Nope. I’ve never had flu, so there doesn’t seem much point.

My husband had his first bout with the flu (diagnosed via antibody test) in his late 30s.
I got one through work (healthcare worker), and this year he got one through a drugstore chain.

Already gotten mine.
The last time I didn’t get a flu shot, I ended up with a 104 fever for three days and a case of pneumonia. Correlation does not equal causation, my eye!

I have the option to have one for free through my employer. That’s the only way I’d ever consider having one, since I’m young and relatively free of health issues and on a lowish income.
What sold me on getting it was that I can have it done on company time. Hell yes! 15 minutes away from phones is worth a shot in the arm.

I got the flu twice in three weeks last January. I’m not in any of the risk groups - which just means I’m not likely to end up hospitalized because of it - but I don’t want to have to stay home from work so much again. The second bout of flu matched all the symptoms of H1N1. Didn’t test for it - the symptoms were enough for my doc to say I had it - but had 3 pregnant women around at work at the time, so once I was well enough to work, I had to wear a mask around the preggers for an additional 3 days (especially since none of them were vaccinated!). Not fun, and don’t wanna do it again.

I got the flu the first year I was in college (1997) because I was too much of a wimp to go get one by myself and my best friend dragged his feet on going with me.
I’ve gotten my shot every year since. Since my brother and some close friends had babies last year, I pay for one for my roommate too. Don’t want to risk anyone here getting sick.

I had my vaccination back in April, in preparation for this year’s winter flu season (now finished). We get them free at work.

I usually get one, but this year they’re $30.00 so I can’t afford it. Oh well maybe I can find a free place 🙂

No. I’ve never gotten one. I used to get the flu fairly often, but I haven’t been ill enough to stay home from work, etc in about 4 years now.

I am in my 50s. Actually, I was diagnosed with the flu last year. Presumably there were some antibodies there, but I had no detectable symptoms. I went to the doctor for something completely different and he ran a flu test.
So it may be that I have had the flu many times, but it is so mild that I don’t notice.

when I was in the Navy, they made us get the shot.
It always made me feel like cr@p for a few days… and sometimes I’d get the flu, sometimes I would not.
after Navy, I was poor folks, so I got no shots. Sometimes I’d get the flu, sometimes I would not.
Now I just don’t bother.

I’m currently on my clinical rotations with pharmacy school. My last rotation was at Grady Hospital in Atlanta Georgia. They offered free flu shots to employees, and since I was a student doing a rotation there, they counted me as an employee. So, I got the flu shot at my first opportunity.
I try to get the flu shot every year, since I’m in health care, I figure people who have the flu will end up at the Pharmacy sooner or later getting medication, so I would have a large chance of catching it. And the last thing I want is a full blown case of influenza!

I got mine for the first time in years, because I work with high-risk folks (senior citizens), otherwise I probably wouldn’t have. I’m not high risk and, aside from work, I’m very rarely around anyone who is. I’ve also only had the flu once that I can remember.
