Fly Me To The Moon: Is anyone as bothered by this as me?

I’ve watched far more stuff debunking flat earters on YouTube than I probably should have, and religious (Christian) people make up a significant proportion of ‘flerfs’. It comes down to them (mis)interpreting the Bible, terms like ‘firmament’ and ‘waters separating the above from the below’ or something like that.

Hadn’t heard of them called ‘flerfs’ before. Religion gives people a lot of stupid shit to believe in, but it’s not at all the only cause of people believing stupid shit. Clearly, to some degree humans have a natural propensity to believe in stupid shit. My experience in life among the humans tells me this starts in childhood and enough exposure to strong belief in stupid shit can leave even otherwise reasonable people vulnerable to acceptance of stupid shit later in life. Even the typical fundamentalist Christian or anyone raised in that environment will comprehend the numerous cases where fundamentalist beliefs can be waved away for convenience and they will not easily take up ‘flerfism’. However, the amount of exposure to stupid people who can wave away glaring contradictions in their stupid fundamentalist beliefs is a countering factor that will increase their representation across the wide spectrum of stupid shit stupid people stupidly believe in.

I hate conspiracy theories, but I usually don’t make much of a fuss about them. The “Moon landings were a hoax” is an exception, though. People who believe that nonsense are directly insulting my profession (engineering), and I take personal offense. A few years ago I unfriended a RL friend on FB who posted some memes suggesting the Moon landings were a hoax. It pissed me off. I won’t tolerate that level of ignorance.

It never occurs to these people, that, in a world where God can work miracles, that God can’t make it so everyone can see Him?

They already made this movie. It had Ron Perlman in it! (Very weird and violent. Kind of funny. not sure if I recommend it or not.)

It doesn’t bother me at all.

I’m really curious to see what your hair looks like.

“Only her hairdresser knows for sure.”

If this is a hit, they already have the roots of a sequel: Let Me Play Among the Stars, about faking the first interstellar mission.

It looks awful, why do you ask?

Reminds me of:

“Why, the very idea of Reincarnation is evil hogwash! Any religion that preaches that is a cult of the Devil! When Jesus comes back he’ll show you!”

ummmm…

Hey, why couldn’t Jesus’ descent take more than 24 hours? Then, everyone could behold it eventually on a globe.

Because:

EARTH HAS 4 CORNER

SIMULTANEOUS 4-DAY

TIME CUBE

WITHIN SINGLE ROTATION.

4 CORNER DAYS PROVES 1

DAY 1 GOD

Also, please keep in mind:

IGNORANCE OF TIMECUBE4

SIMPLE MATH IS RETARDATION

AND EVIL EDUCATION DAMNATION.

CUBELESS AMERICANS DESERVE -

AND SHALL BE EXTERMINATED.

Geez, I just thought it was because if it took that long, Jesus couldn’t take any bathroom breaks.

On Jeopardy! the other day, ScarJo read a category, in character from this film, on films about trips to the moon. Interestingly, none of the clues were from this film. Embarrassment? Truth? (I mean, it isn’t about a trip to the moon…)

I haven’t forgotten the warning in the film Interstellar that late in this century schools will be teaching that humans never went to the moon. That is scary.

I’m sure Ticketmaster will find some way to horn in on it.

She was there to promote this film (Fly Me to the Moon). Jennings talked about it when introducing the category.

“And for an extra $1000.00 you get a Exclusive Access Pass which includes a personal audience with The Saviour. Autographed photos available for $100.00.”
