He was just an all-around fundamentalist. Doing anything differently than him wasn’t just a difference, but sinfully wrong. That’s not uncommon on here, or the Internet generally, but he took it to an extreme. The most absurd example I can think of is that he insisted that the S in Louisville must be pronounced because the letter S is [always pronounced](https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=17541257&postcount=53) and goddamn all those illiterates who disagree. ---

Another example: The [only proper way](https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=15257050&postcount=23) to pay bills is by writing a check and sending it in the mail, and if you don’t, you’re an idiotic failed adult. In isolation, it might be seen as hyperbole, but I don’t think it was. That’s how he saw literally everything. He was the universal expert on Christianity, conservatism, bill-paying, phonics, photography, child porn (see post 78), etc., and those who disagreed were worthy of all-consuming scorn. ---
