You caught me. I thought that by saying “My guess is” and stating clearly it was snarky conjecture in the original statement that people would _really_ think I really had in my hands hard firm uncut evidence, but you seen through that! [You](http://www.moviepoopshoot.com/diatribe/images/apr29/lbmcuster.jpg) took one look at me and knowed I wuz a muleskinner!

Course it’s probably easy for people like Billy Graham to feel that way - they know it can never happen to them. It’s amazing how acceptable risks change when they can’t ever apply to you.

Because he’s a man, or because he’s post-menopausal? Or maybe no one would ever touch him?

But plenty of women in their fertile years are every bit as pro-life. In fact, I wonder how it breaks down along gender lines.
Here’s good site: [http://www.abolishadoption.com/](http://www.abolishadoption.com/)

When a top authority like John Douglas of the FBI’s unit that handles serial killings writes “Most serial killers were adopted,” that’s food for thought. Adopted children have been abused, tortured and murdered. There’s also a dark side for the adopted parents–the biological parents can redeem the child, and this has lead to some nasty court battles.

People state that “abortionists are only it in for the vast amount of money involved.” And nobody in the adoption business is getting paid for it.
You might consider the background of adopted children. In my old town a lot of kids were adopted. A fair percentage had problems, and not because of the parents. One had fetal alcohol syndrome, and several had drug addicted mothers. You might think about how these kids would have turned out if they had stayed with their drugged and drunken mother, instead of going to a good home in a good environment.

No information specifically about \*fertile \*women, but here:

> [@](#):
>
> While the debate over abortion divides both men and women, women express significantly stronger feelings about the issue, and much more often say this issue could be a factor in their vote. An analysis of recent Pew Research Center surveys finds that 33% of women say they strongly oppose more restrictions on abortion, compared with 26% of men.
>
> On the other side of the issue, 19% of women strongly favor greater restrictions, compared with 15% of men. Taken together, the majority of women (52% overall) feel strongly about the issue one way or the other, while only 41% of men say the same.
But, sticking to the OP, it’s a sick individual who would want the safest form of a medical procedure banned in favor of one that has a higher risk of killing the patient.
Sick individuals? Like the American Medical Association?

> [@](#):
>
> The American Medical Association (AMA) is writing to support HR 1122, “The Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 1997,” as amended. Although our general policy is to oppose legislation criminalizing medical practice or procedure, the AMA has supported such legislation where the procedure was narrowly defined and not medically indicated. HR 1122 now meets both those tests.
>
> Our support of this legislation is based on three specific principles. First, the bill would allow a legitimate exception where the life of the mother was endangered, thereby preserving the physician’s judgment to take any medically necessary steps to save the life of the mother. Second, the bill would clearly define the prohibited procedure so that it is clear on the face of the legislation what act is to be banned. Finally, the bill would give any accused physician the right to have his or her conduct reviewed by the State Medical Board before a criminal trial commenced. In this manner, the bill would provide a formal role for valuable medical peer determination in any enforcement proceeding.
>
> The AMA believes that with these changes, physicians will be on notice as to the exact nature of the prohibited conduct.
>
> Thank you for the opportunity to work with you towards restricting a procedure **we all agree is not good medicine.**
>
> Sincerely,
>
> P. John Seward, MD
> Executive Vice President
> American Medical Association

Bolding mine.

So it isn’t at all clear that the procedure banned is a safer one over the other procedures in the vast majority of cases. Clearly the AMA doesn’t think so, and in the face of their testimony that it is bad medicine I would need some compelling proof from you that it is otherwise.

What are the four situations in which most Americans agree abortion should be legal?

1. Rape
2. Incest
3. Life of the mother

Wow. You must have an incredible memory to be able to remember a quote verbatim from over 20 years ago. No wonder you’re so smart!
 Yes, remembering a **single sentence** is so **very** implausible. I should be ashamed at claiming such superhuman powers of memory.
Well, to be fair, if I’d read something like that the story and even the quote would be likely to stay burned in my memory just from the horror of its casual cruelty.
Exactly. Ask me what my Dad said the same day I read that, and I couldn’t tell you - because my Dad didn’t say things like that.
The more likely explanation is that he read it on some lefty blog and assumed it to be true.

_Time_ magazine is a “lefty blog” ? I didn’t even have a computer back then, and I don’t think blogs had been invented then anyway. And I’ve read blogs of any variety perhaps half a dozen times at most.
