Focus on the Family veep explains why perforated uteruses are a GOOD thing

You caught me. I thought that by saying “My guess is” and stating clearly it was snarky conjecture in the original statement that people would really think I really had in my hands hard firm uncut evidence, but you seen through that! You took one look at me and knowed I wuz a muleskinner!

Because he’s a man, or because he’s post-menopausal? Or maybe no one would ever touch him?

But plenty of women in their fertile years are every bit as pro-life. In fact, I wonder how it breaks down along gender lines.

You might consider the background of adopted children. In my old town a lot of kids were adopted. A fair percentage had problems, and not because of the parents. One had fetal alcohol syndrome, and several had drug addicted mothers. You might think about how these kids would have turned out if they had stayed with their drugged and drunken mother, instead of going to a good home in a good environment.

No information specifically about *fertile *women, but here:

Sick individuals? Like the American Medical Association?

Bolding mine.

So it isn’t at all clear that the procedure banned is a safer one over the other procedures in the vast majority of cases. Clearly the AMA doesn’t think so, and in the face of their testimony that it is bad medicine I would need some compelling proof from you that it is otherwise.

Thanks for this link. I have bookmarked it. Excellent read.

What are the four situations in which most Americans agree abortion should be legal?

  1. Rape
  2. Incest
  3. Life of the mother
  4. Me

 Yes, remembering a single sentence is so very implausible. I should be ashamed at claiming such superhuman powers of memory.

Exactly. Ask me what my Dad said the same day I read that, and I couldn’t tell you - because my Dad didn’t say things like that.

Time magazine is a “lefty blog” ? I didn’t even have a computer back then, and I don’t think blogs had been invented then anyway. And I’ve read blogs of any variety perhaps half a dozen times at most.

The TIME Magazine web page has a free searchable archive evidently going back to 1932. I didn’t find the quote you claim, but perhaps you will have better luck. It’s your statement to defend, after all.

In fact it is extremely implausible. Possible, of course, but not likely.

Uhhhhh… either read it in a lefty blog and *thought *you remembered reading it in Time or the lefty blog claimed the guy said it in Time. Savvy?

Yes, thank you! Maybe it wasn’t MsRobyn after all… but I remember it was from a longtime female poster who surprised me with her radical view on the matter.

I don’t read “lefty blogs”, or righty blogs, or furry blogs, or enviro blogs, or Christian blogs, or Star Trek geek blogs, or Mouseketeer fan blogs. I read it in Time, or even misremembered reading it in Time, but I absolutely didn’t read about it in a blog of any variety. Why you are focusing on blogs, I have no idea.

Why don’t you see if there are free searchable archives for Newsweek, USN&WR, and perhaps the Utne Reader and Mother Jones?

Once again, it is you who has an interest in defending your recollection.

I was assuming you got those nutty ideas and erroneous “facts” that you spout around here somewhere. If you’re telling us you make them up all by yourself, well that’s even worse. But whatever…

My kids are both adopted. Hey- that makes me twice the terrorist of your average terrorist !!! Hot damn. Do I get a special Captain Midnight Decoder Ring or something?

:dubious:

Cartooniverse

My (adoptive) parents are currently visiting from out of state. You would never guess they were terrorists by looking at them! Good thing we have random airport screening…maybe they will get nailed on the way home.

I tend to get my “nutty” ideas from reading. Have you ever seen a book or magazine ? A square thing with words inside ?

Well, I have, but usually they say, “No trespassing.”

It’s a good thing Livingston retired when he did. Flynt would have been bankrupted. For god’s sake, I turned down Bob Livingston in a Baton Rouge bar twenty years ago.

most of mine have been rectangular.
