I have much love for cardigan sweaters with buttons. Specifically, fine-gauge knit COTTON (allergic to wool) button-up sweaters _without embellishments_. In black. Damn it all.
I forgot to state the obvious: that I need one of those elusive little bastards.

Oh, wah. Zippered sweaters don’t even begin to compare with the abominations that are low-rise jeans, way too tight everything, and ankle-breaking high stilettos. Actually, come to think of it, just about all of women’s clothes for the last five years have been abominations. You get no sympathy from me. (I have a very nice zippered sweater that I wear at work. I love it. I don’t have to pull it over my head, and it doesn’t look as stupid as a cardigan.)
Exactly. Not to mention, nothing fashion can think up in this day and age can hold a candle to the stupidity and ugliness that is the “poopy diapered jeans” look of the young thug about town.

Note that \*some people \* “allergic to wool” can wear Alpaca, Cashmere or even Smartwool.

Hee hee hee. They look even brighter with the baseball caps on any way except the proper way. What really makes me laugh is the cap perched on the head, and slightly cocked to the side. Um, boys, that’s the way old farmers in Saskatchewan wear their hats.
We called them “bunny hugs” in Saskatchewan. Now, who wouldn’t want a hug from a warm, fuzzy bunny?

**ladybug** , your mom does know that if you wore it once, you can’t wear it again when it comes back in style, right? It’s the law.
_laughs_ I know, I hate the word ‘hoodie’ too. It makes me think of ‘hoodlum’. Bunny hug is so much better.

Uh, I live in Boston, and I’m sorry to say those skinny leg jeans are EVERYWHERE. It doesn’t matter if you’re 5’10" and a size 2 – they’re still incredibly ugly and make you look stupid. And trashy. Especially when paired with white pointy-toed stillettos. Hideous!

What’s with this hoodie thing? Does that mean a sweat shirt with a hood? Why have a blasted hood anyway? Last time I saw someone actually using the hood part on their head I locked all my car doors and took the children inside. And don’t get me going on these weird-ass jeans (really, they make everyone’s ass look weird)

I’m one of those delicate flowers (shut _up_) that’s allergic to all of it.

I will report success, however; I found a button-up black non-animal-derived sweater yesterday. It barely fits, but it fits.

It depends on how long the item’s been out of style. Mom’s a rebel. 😉
Oh, there’s definitely nothing wrong with a size 12. But imagine how a pair of jeans that makes a size 2 look fat would make me look. Like a size 24? I’m not going to find out.
Same here. I’m a curvy size 10, and my legs would look like sausages if I tried to stuff them into a pair of skinny jeans. I think I’ll stick with the outdated-but-flattering clothes, thanks.

> Zippered sweaters are weird because I don’t think of a sweater where you can see the knit pattern as having a zipper. To me, even if a sweater is machine made, it should still retain something of a “handmade” quality, and normally handmade sweaters don’t have zippers.

Unless, [they do](http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall06/PATTavast.html). (And that is a great sweater. I want one. After I finish the faux-belted one I’m making now.)
But, you do have a point.
Oooh, new Knitty!

As someone who closely followed the knit/crochet scene for the past year and a half (though lately I’ve grown somewhat bored with it all), zippers on handknit sweaters are not at all uncommon. Personally, I prefer hooks and eyes, as in [this sweater](http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall06/PATTserrano.html). Sure, grandma may not sew a zipper into your sweater, but for the 20- and 30somethings who are currently driving the handicraft revival, a zippered sweater is not at all egregious.

The only people I’ve seen skinny, tapered jeans on are middle-school- and high-school-aged boys with chicken legs. And a random guy at my university who seems to deliberately wear the most ridiculous clothing possible. I guess the jeans I wear could be classified as skinny, but I prefer to call them tight with a very small flare.

The fashion trend I absolutely despise is leggings as pants. I understood the leggings under miniskirts, and while I would never do it myself, I thought it was kind of cute (especially with ballet flats). Lately girls have been eschewing the skirt completely and just wearing leggings. Hello? Were you not cognizant during the 80s and early 90s? Are you so arrogant as to presume that they look better on you than they did on anyone during that decade and a half? It’s one of the grossest fashion trends in recent history–how did it ever come back?
