Little crunchy ‘twigs’ made of wholewheat flour, glazed (traditionally) with yeast extract, more recently offered in other flavours such as worcester or curry.
Personally, I prefer Marmite (I mention this at the risk of being strung up); I find it smoother and slightly less salty, but it’s all a matter of personal choice…
My favourite way to eat it; wholemeal or rye toast, completely cooled in a toast rack (so that it doesn’t get soggy with it’s own steam), a thick application of real butter and a smear of Marmite (no more than half a level tsp per slice).
What are Tim Tams?
Tim Tams are DELICIOUS chocolate biscuits!!!
nummmmmmmmm!!!
In a vegimite seugue, i was overseas with some canadians, and one of my aussie friends was travelling with little snack size vegemites equipped with biscuits and a little red palstic spreader.
We offered it to our oblivious canadians friends… something to the effect of “would you like to try some chocolate?”
As witnessed in the OP, vegimite is somewhat vile to the foreign tongue, but to a tounge expecting chocolate?
Much amusement (on the australian behalf) ensued.
The remainder of my vegimite memories are only those filled with joy, i love it with cheese.
I don’t like Tim Tams.
Cool ! I’m safe with the dawg on my side
And go to bed !
Boo! Hiss!

Well, I don’t know if that was the original idea, but that’s where it ended up.
I like chocolate bickies. Just not Tim Tams. They taste like plastic.
Give ol’ TLD a Chocolate Monte any day.
