# Food Suggestions for Pirate Themed Party

We are planning a pot-luck lunch for “Talk Like a Pirate Day.” I am trying to come up with a list of clever suggestions for the uninspired. These need to be foods which can either be served cold, or re-heated in the microwave for serving in the Corporate Conference Room. A slow-cooker plugged in all day is also feasible.
Silly and pun-based suggestions are also welcome.

In “honor” of the Somali pirates, DH made cambuulo when we had a pirate party. Basically, it’s adzuki beans, coconut milk, ginger and cardamom. Heat in a crock pot and add sugar to taste. You can also go more savory and add garlic.
Apparently every Somali grandma has her own version (lots use butter instead of coconut milk), and half the fun was trying to decipher what people were saying on various Somali message boards. 🙂

If you barbeque the walk-the-plank steaks using a wooden rack, you’re a “buccaneer”. Bacon derives from the same root.
Or you can serve corn-on-the-cob at a buck-an-ear.
