Barbecue.

Doesn’t matter to me if it’s Texas style, KC Style, Deep South style. Doesn’t matter whether it’s beef, pork, chicken, sausage, or ham either.

Served with onions, jalapenos, pickles, cole slaw, potato salad, beans, bread and beer.

Unless someone is doing actual, real time damage to themselves with the food they’re eating (like a diabetic with uncontrolled sugar eating frosting from a can with a tablespoon) there’s not a damn thing wrong with eating whatever they’d like in moderation and **enjoying** food. It really irritates me when people reinforce the garbage notion that we should feel badly about nourishing our bodies with things that are delicious but perhaps more calorie, carb or fat-dense than others. I find that this nonsense is routinely spouted by people who claim that unflavored rice cakes are “delicious” and use their personal lack of taste and weight-loss derived arrogance to come up with crappy cliches like this one. [/soapbox] \*\*

Tangent: I have to chime in and heartily second **TeaElle’s** soapbox comment. I frickin’ hate that “Nothing tastes as good as thin feels” platitude. My mom actually has it on a magnet on her fridge, along with one that says, “Sneaky snacks make bigger slacks.” Bite me, mom. She’s one of those people that claims rice cakes are delicious and knows the calorie/fat/carb content of every food and will tell you just how fattening that cheesecake is as you eat it.
I recently lost 60 pounds through diet and exercise, and she gave me a load of crap for eating one slice of pecan pie on Thanksgiving. My sister was cutting it, and my mother actually told her not to give me any. (I’m an adult, BTW - nearly 40 years old. It’s not like I’m a wayward child.)
I can’t wait till Christmas! :dubious:

Back to the OP:
Cheesecake, with raspberry sauce and a fancy sliver of dark chocolate perched on top. Yum.

Popeye’s biscuits, fresh from the oven, drenched in whatever fake buttery flavored stuff they put on top.

As **Eva Luna** said, crustaceans drenched in garlic butter. Mussels, lobster… heaven. My local grocery store sells a big bag of mussels for $3.99, and they’ll steam them for FREE! Add some real butter (not margarine!) and some fresh chopped garlic - what a treat. And cheap, too.

Hey, I like cottage cheese and salad, too. I dearly love a good Caesar Salad with grilled chicken and fresh parmesan cheese (which I eat almost daily as part of my diet).

But I don’t want to be preached at by someone (I’m looking at _you_, Mom) for having a bit of dessert when I’ve been good all week. And I don’t want a recitation of the fat/calorie/carb content of each mouthful. That’s just rude.

Rice cakes are just nasty, though.

dark chocolate.
Apple pie. When my boyfriend and I went to Gettysburg last November we stopped for dinner at the Spring house Tavern, which is in the basement of the Dobbins house. Best apple pie ever.
whipped cream with strawberries in June. cream cheese with salsa and tortilla chips. Hot chocolate. French Toast. French Vanilla ice cream. Chocolate ice cream. Pumpkin pie. Peanut butter cookies. Toast with butter and honey.

I’d better stop.

I’m thin, and I’d have to say that feeling thin is more a state of normalness. No guilty pleasure in it, but then again, some pain because I excercise.

So we have:[ul]normal.
not too pleasurable.
slightly painful. [/ul]So it’s a slice of Wonder bread, plain. And I have to cross a hot sandy beach barefoot to get it.

Having lost 55 pounds…

I have to vote for the trope. Honestly…nothing tastes as good as being thin feels. Being heavy sucked. Being thin and being able to wear sexy clothing again totally rocks.

There is no food that would sway me to be heavy again. It’s far better to be svelte. You just can’t understand unless you have been on the other side 🙂

My aunt recently got married, and at the (extremely swanky) reception, the dessert buffet had this chocolate fondue… ::drool:: this was the best chocolate i have ever tasted in my life (and believe me I’ve tasted a lot of chocolate). Oh. My god. Sooo good… It was a semi-sweet kind of chocolate with (I believe) Grand Marnier in it or something and oh my god holy crap was that good chocolate. I was halfway leaning towards just grabbing the whole dish and running away with it (only the fact that I would have had to catch a cab, back to the hotel, back to the car, and then drive back to PA with it deterred me). I kept going back trying to find more things to dip in this chocolate, and I eventually just gave up and ate it with a spoon. That’s how freaking _good_ this chocolate was. ::drool:: It was a month ago and I still salivate just thinking about it. 😃

_That_ tastes much better than thin could _ever_ feel.

Good Tiramisu. Holy shit - definite foodgasm.
Also, the chicken cordon bleu served, incongruously, at a local German restaurant. Wow.

This is one reason I absolutely love the insulin regimine I’m on now. I’ve been a diabetic since fall 1988. I was four when I was diagnosed. Basically not eating sweet things past fresh fruit and the very _very_ infrequent, single Hershey’s Kiss for about 8 years was sheer torment. Sugar-free just is not the same. But (unfortunately) nothing tastes so good as not having headaches, stomachaches, recurring yeast infections, and slow-healing wounds. With my new routine, I can eat basically whatever I want, whenever I want. Sweet lord, chocolate creme pie is finally mine! I have a sweet tooth approximately the size of an adult male humpback whale with a rampant case of elephantiasis. I can eat like a normal person! Which means healthily, but if I feel like it, I can splurge and eat an enormous meal with tons of pasta and bread and potatoes . . . _drool_ Of course, everything in moderation. The way diabetes is managed has changed SO much since the 80s. Thank Og.

My foods:
Chocolate creme oreos dipped in chocolate milk
Chocolate
Vichyssoise, but hot, which makes it plain ol’ potato soup + a ham sandwich on fresh bread
Chocolate
Beer Can Chicken
Chocolate
Mashed potatoes with tons of gravy
Chocolate
Ham
Chocolate
My mom’s strawberry cheesecake

Did I mention the chocolate? 😃 I swear, when I die, St. Peter will offer me either entrance to heaven or a chocolate bar which will lead to eternal damnation as a test of my character. I hope I’ll remember to pack one of those misting fans.

It’s been so long since I’ve been truly thin that I wouldn’t know, really. In order to compete with the cheesecakes we used to get a little diner back home, though, it would have to be constant orgasmic delight, and I mean _constant_.
