Turkish Taffy. That was gooooood! Pretty damn chewy, though. I haven’t had it since the 60’s, but there may be a bit of it still stuck to one of my molars. Shake-a-pudding. By Jello. Annoying jingle, sorta gritty if you didn’t shake it enough, but it was 5th grade comfort food for me. Beeman’s pepsin chewing gum. Did they ever make a rennin flavor? ---

BTW - a lot of foods and other products we think have disappeared are for sale on [Hometown Favorites](http://www.hometownfavorites.com/). Check there if you’re really craving something “long gone” - they don’t have it all but they do have a lot of it. ---

**Qadgop** , you took the two I specifically came in to mention. I miss **Bonomo Turkish Taffy** – available in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and banana (yechh!). When it’s cold you can smack it against a wall, and it cracks into convenient-sized pieces you can eat (plus a fair amount of crumbly dust that gets stuck to your hand). When it was hot, it would turn into a viscous stick that wouldn’t shatter, and would stick to the foil wrapper so that, try as you might, you had a piece of foil still stuck to it when you chewed on it that eventually gave your fillings a galvanic response. Ouch! I tried them about 5 years ago and they were terrible. I believe they stopped making them because of a ban on the sugar substitute, and what they used 5 years ago was terrible! A friend of mine and I ordered a bunch–we ended up giving them to the kids who dropped them in the toilet to watch the water fizz. To drink–not so much. Too bad too, I remember them as one of my favorite childhood candies. Loved putting them in my mouth and foaming 🙂 ---

Decent Mexican food. Having lived in Albuquerque and spent a lot of time otherwise in northern New Mexico, I miss that. There’s Mexican food over here, but it’s a pale imitation. ---

**Regal Crown** sours, especially grape. I can’t figure out how such an amazing candy could disappear. The original **Fresca** (with cyclamates). The only diet soda that was drinkable. No aftertaste. ---

This is gonna sound really gross, but it tasted divine. Back when I lived in Cali, Carl’s Jr. used to serve crinkle cut fries that were fried in (I think) animal fat of some sort. At least that’s what I was told at the time. The reformulation kept us kids from wanting to go there just for fry runs. How much did I love the older style fries? I would gladly pay $10 for a pint glass full of those fries (vertically aligned of course). The thought of that alone, makes my pleasure sensors twitch with anticipation.
