I could easily name fifty beers, wines and cheeses - among them, being named after the place of origin is pretty much standard.

Anyone say Kobe beef yet?

Sure, why wouldn’t they? It’s a rum & coke with some lime.

There’s about a zillion apple varieties that _are_ named after specific locations (e.g., the Roxbury Russet).

Delmonico steak
Fortescue Fries (fried oysters)

A few more cocktails:

Brooklyn
Bronx (actually named after the zoo)
Jersey (as in “New Jersey”)
Fish House Punch
…and a whole bunch of others, ranging from “Adirondack” to “Yale”

ETA: It’s also common for oyster varieties to be identified by their point of origin.

In the South, those are called “fiddlesticks”. How 'bout Tabasco? Made in Louisiana but named for a Mexican state.

If we include Dame Nellie, we can include all [four of the dishes](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nellie_Melba#Legacy) Escoffier was inspired by her to create: Peach Melba, Melba toast, Melba sauce and Melba Garniture.
