I love, love pizza in all it’s various forms and toppings. From New York style, to Chicago deep dish, to brick oven thin crust.
But man, I just can not do the cold pizza thing. Something about cold tomato sauce just grosses me out. I loathe cold ketchup also.

I’m not normally a fussy eater, but: Spinach. I love fresh spinach and will eat it raw or cooked.

But if it has been canned or frozen, forget it! The wiltyness, and texture of canned or frozen/thawed spinach? Just gross.

If you’re going to make me something that has cooked spinach in it, it had better of started out fresh.

I’m the same way, except I won’t eat mayonnaise either.

Another one on my list: tomatoes. Tomato sauce (if it’s spiced enough)? Love it. Ketchup? Great with fries. Sliced tomatoes on, say, a burger, or a BLT? Won’t touch them.

Another carrots must be crunchy person here.

On the flip side, onions must have NO crunch at all.

Reading the OP, I couldn’t think of anything but some of the replies jogged some memories, though none rise to hate. I don’t care for spinach in soup. It doesn’t add anything except broth on my chin, which it always does because the leaves are too big for the spoon and retain enough integrity to get dragged across my face. It’s acceptable as a salad green and good on sandwiches.

Similarly, cheese in soups. Stringy. At the same time, I acknowledge that a delicious French onion is incomplete without the characteristic cheese topping, but in this unique case, the cheese is sort of floating on croutons/lardons (I’ve never tried the latter) and not really mixed in. I opt out of cheese in chili as well.

Scrambled (omelette) or hard boiled (deviled) are good. The rest—poached, fried, sunny side up, etc.—yuck!

I’ll drink hot coffee with cream and sugar; I’ll have a sip of the wife’s cold brew, similarly doctored. But ixnay on the coffee ice cream, coffee yogurt, coffee flavored candy!

Plain, unsweetened yogurt is nasty…unless you coat meat with yogurt and spices, then grill it. The heat changes its flavor I guess. Likewise I hate cottage cheese but it’s fine when baked in lasagne.

I’ll only eat cucumbers if I must. Pickles are good though.
Tomatoes are good in all their forms…except ketchup. I won’t eat it and I won’t look if someone else is eating it.

I don’t like tomatoes by themselves. I like them sliced in BLTs, diced in salsa and sauced. I don’t like them stewed. Not because of the flavor, but because of embarrassing squirts.

But once it’s been cooked, in any way whatsoever, I’m completely uninterested in eating it.

> Quite common actually. I remember a story where in exchange for your soul or something equally important you could live in a world where everything was perfect. Among other things listed in the sales brochure was that it would never rain if you had something planned, automobiles that never broke down, and **coffee that tastes like it smells**. The hero found out, of course, things were not exactly as represented.

I remember that story! Was it perhaps published in F&SF? I never missed an issue, so it it seems like a good bet. I read the others (Analog, etc.) from time to time, but I read F&SF from cover to cover for I don’t know how many years.

Quite possibly since I’ve also been reading F&SF for over fifty years and the (dimly) remembered “feel” of it is theirs.

So you’re saying you prefer not to orbisculate? Or are you referring to other embarrassing squirts?

(I just learned this new word and am thrilled to use it in an actual sentence. 😃 )

As far as eggs go, I guess I’m the outlier so far. I’ll eat eggs only if:

- They’re fried in olive oil and the yolk is broken and cooked hard. No runny, no gooky, no slime

- They’re hard boiled and sprinkled with salt between every bite.

Avocados. I love Guacamole but do not enjoy them in any other form. I think it’s more a matter of mouthfeel than taste. You need to smash the slimy out.
