Taking this seriously, rather the silly aside it is likely meant to be, I don’t believe that I or you, let alone people who hate people, come to all their views through thought. Often we use thought to rationalize/explain the views we already have.

And that comment completely misses the point. The views they (and we) have are how they (and we) think, even if they are not the result of thought. The beliefs they have about why they think that way impacts what they do as well.

Understanding what someone thinks, what story they likely tell themselves about why they think it, even understanding really why they think it, in no way implies excusing or condoning it.

Keep an eye and ear out for people having interesting conversations about interesting things. You’ll find some Jews.

However their mental processes work, they’re not completely random. That means that they can be predicted - if we understand them. It’s like studying any other animal. You think exterminators don’t understand rats?
