I will tell you what I suspect and If I am right, it is an easy fix. have someone probe deeply your entire bottom of your foot searching for tight tendons, it will most likely be just one. If they can locate that tight tendon have them kneed it out using hard finger pressure. About 5 minutes of this might loosen it up
A quick and easy test for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is Homans sign (you can Google how to do it). However, you should seek medical help ASAP with or without a positive test. Severe calf pain needs to be diagnosed and treated properly.

You just spent 30 seconds reading what I wrote - of course you’re a dick. I mean, really? Can you reign it in a bit? Thanks.
Mods and Alessan, I apologize. That was inappropriate.
Another thing that might work is placing a golf ball under the arch of your foot and rolling it around with as much pressure as you can do comfortably. I don’t think you could hurt anything.
You have all my sympathy, foot and leg pain is a horror. Hopefully you’ll find a good podiatrist soon!
If the icing is painful, you could cut back on the amount of ice in the bucket. You would probably still get relief with half or even 1/4 of the amount of ice that I see in the pictures.
And looking through the thread, I don’t see whether compression has helped at all? If a tight Ace bandage around the ankle or calf doesn’t make a difference, then it’s probably more than a soft tissue problem.
No, I’m sorry. I’ve been where you’ve been, and I know how frustrating the pain can be. I’m sorry if I came across as blithe.
Thank you, and I still apologize. I was being a jerk, even if I was being a jerk in a great deal of pain (and I am still in a great deal of pain.) Sorry
It hurts a lot and continues to hurt a lot but that doesn’t mean I get to be a jerk.
This was another thing that the PT had me do, in addition to the frozen ice rollers (pop bottles). Except she suggested a tennis ball. Helped me a lot.
I used golf balls for plantar fasciitis. Didn’t help as much as the massage from the PT.
But I’m worried that the OP is being awakened by pain. Could this be an infection or something nasty that really needs to be treated ASAP? Seriously, @squeegee , i think you need to see a doctor again, soon.
Hey, Puzzle Gal. I managed to sleep a couple hours I guess I’ll get over to a podiatrist today, it’s 6 am here so it’s going to be a while. Not sure what else to do. It doesn’t seem to be an infection, and not really an injury per se, it just hurts a bunch. Good GOD it hurts so much. I’ve had a tooth abscess before, but this may hurt close to that level. Thanks so much for your concern, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. This is one of my tougher mornings to be sure.
When I’ve had severe foot pain (gout, metatarsalgia, plantar fasciitis) my gf gives me extra leeway if I’m a jerk. Pain sucks.
Glad to hear you’ll be seeing a podiatrist today. Pain that wakes you up needs attention. I wouldn’t have your fortitude to do ice baths at any time of day!
If you can’t get in to a podiatrist, try to find a PT who can do a session with you just with some pain relief techniques.
When in the midst of a gout attack, I look forward to icing my foot.
I have heard that about gout~like a thousand tiny exquisitely sharp blades stabbing your joint.
It’s a blood clot. Just spoke with the doc. Holy shit.
So what’s the treatment?
DVT? Good that you got an early diagnosis. Quick treatment is of the essence. Good luck!
Anticoagulation.
