There were St George’s Cross flags all over Oxford yesterday. Being clueless, my first thought was "I didn’t even know England were playing … " ---

Sadly, I was of a similar mind set as Steve Wright - we had bunting all over the local pub, but my first thought it was, that it was for the Man Untd. game…oops. ---

Good Ol’ George is also patron saint of: Boy Scouts Chivalry Archers Farmers Plague Herpes Syphilis Skin Diseases. All of which in my opinion make him very English. (he’s also one of the patron saints of Germany, Canada and Portugal) ---

Thanks **Twisty** Except that in reality it is not St Georges day at all. The C of E decreed long ago that if St Georges day were to fall in the same week as the Easter festival then St Georges day would be moved on to the next most suitable date. That happens to be next Monday. ---
