**tracer** - you’re absolutely right: by and large, Christians believe in the necessity of Jesus’ atoning death in order to bring about salvation. So as long as there’s sin in the world, Christ has to die for us. Who actually killed Him is quite irrelevant; the standard interpretation is that, effectively, we all did. ---
