Damn. I tried. I really did. But Poly’s (?) Tolerance thread sent me back. Stan A’s “sweet-talk[ing] and smooth[ing] over the road to hell,” says Lauralee. There’s some kinda poetic justice there. (Aw, shit, Satan–tell me she’s not related to Heatherlee?) And she comments, “Something tells me the evil one is attacking [Pariah] now more than we know.” Heh heh. Well, I screamed and I ranted and I raved…made me feel a little better, but it didn’t do a bit of good otherwise. Think I scared Lauralee a little, but that really wasn’t my intention. I believe the show’s over for me. I won’t say that I’m NOT going back–we’ve all seen how low the recovery rate is–but I doubt that I’ll be posting anything important. Because there are powerful forces, working overtly and covertly, seeking to throw science out of the classroom and replace it with “creation science”. They have intimidated congressmen, put people on school boards(without letting the people know what their true agenda is), and have presented to the public the false dichotomy of presenting equally valid methods of science. The Institute of Creation Research makes all members sign a document stating that the members must pre-suppose the truth of Creationism and the falsehood of evolution, which is _not_ science in any way, shape, or form. If there is actual evidence of Creationism, it must be brought foward. If there isn’t any evidence, the people that propose Creationism must admit that there isn’t any, or be exposed for the frauds they are. Nothing less, in my eyes, is silent agreement with their statement. ---

Lib: In part because some of the folks there will never go looking for information on their own. There are some who admit they only read pro-creationism sources, for example. They promote liars (like Kent Hovind) without knowing all the facts about him and what he says. They buy the nonsense without ever looking at the sense. So some of us decided to spend a little time trying to bring rationality to their lives. ---

slythe: As one who has pointed out to Phil many times the dangers of majoritarianism, I can sympathize. It ought not to be that those with the most political clout trump the desire of parents to have their children schooled in evolutionary science. And maybe that was the original intention when y’all first went over there, but now people _appear_ to be doing exactly what is expressly prohibited by their policy, namely, posting for the purpose of harrassing and badgering. Arguing the evolution position is one thing, but two of the links above lead to discussions on the God and the rock paradox and the Shroud of Turin. No offense, but I mean, look at yourselves. You go over there like undercover Navy SEALS, create as much disturbance as you can, and then rally back here to divide your spoils and congratulate each other. That is just plain weird. You’re probably right. On the other hand, I’m using identical UserNames. If they can’t figure it out from that, well… Someone Over There is rather upset that I’m using the Darwin Amphibian. (See “C vs E, A Matter of Faith.”) But couldn’t a “Jesus Fish” be considered a graven image? Frankly, my only real concern is that the Darwin Amphibian may be copyrighted.
