Okay, just checking. I’ve just had a few people mention in their “Vatican is the whore of Babylong” thing, so I wondered. But I can absolutely believe it. I just love how Chick seems to think or at least tells everyone, that Catholics are so uneducated about the Bible. Dude! As IF! Most priests are way more educated than anyone else in Biblical studies. I wonder if Chick can read the original languages the Bible was written in. Probably not-what a dumbass. Most priests would see someone like Bob and laugh themselves into a hernia. Then they’d have Sister Mary Patrick get out her ruler. ---

The letters IHS have also stood for the phrase “In hoc signo”, Latin for “In this sign” . It was the emperor Constantine(pesky guy keeps turning up, doesn’t her?) who allegedly received a vision before a battle, that if his soldiers would put a cross on their shields or cloaks, or something, they would be victorious. He was told “In this sign you will conquer.” ---

Ahhh there is the joy of Chick… he pretty much can offend everyone. They are all tastless and usually quite erroneous. It is whether it hits a nerve or not. I’m sure Death Cookie is quite angering to many catholics as he basically (as always) says their religion is Satanic and they are fools for following it. I try to find the humour in his disgusting triades only because if I didn’t I would always be pissed. Mel Brooks helped me realize that the only way to handle evil like this in the world is to hold it up to ridicule, that way it loses its power. Uncontroled anger against it tends to give people like Chick a sense that they are doing something right because they have hit a nerve which they equate as being a “truth hurts” reaction. For example in that particular comic you have to dig deep to look at the ridiculousness of it. Here are some examples: I’m sure the first thing a holocaust survivor would yell at Neo Nazis would not be “You filthy Christian Swine” Mr Weiss should have been offended at Bob (A younger blonder Bob? or does Jack only think guys named Bob are trustworthy?) hijaking a discussion on Naziism and turing it into an Anti Catholic rant which talks about protestantism. I mean poor old Mr Weiess ends up sitting out of the conversation for most of it. Mr Weiss isn’t a christian because he was treated bad by Christians??? How about he hasn’t accepted Jesus as his Messiah because he is Jewish and has a diferent interpretation of who and what the Messiah would be? It boggles the mind how Chick doesn’t realize that many people hold dearly to their own religions because they have the same passion and faith in their belifs as he does. They are the decieved ones they are the mis led… uh huh. And the Pope is out rewrite the US Constitution. Say come to think of it when was that change made I mean in 1984 he said it is almost a reality… Jeeze I know the church moves slow but really? Oh yeah and Ronald Regan’s administration is the most Catholic in history?!?! Archie Bunker is used to help the Catholic cause?? See there are some really dumb things this filth can produce. We must laugh at him… he has no power if you laugh. ---

He made it the religion of rome and conqured under the symbol of the cross… Something about that has always bothered me however. So Constantine is about to go into war and he has a vision of the Cross and hears the words “In this sign you will conquer” Jesus was crucified on the cross. It was a symbol of his sacrifice for mankind. To save everyone and yada yada… Ok, but he conqured with the cross by laying down his life. He also taught enemy love and laying down your life for what you believe before ever killing for what you believe (remember he was supposedly the Messiah, to Jewish people of his day that meant he was going to be a military leader) he did not organize the people into a military revolt, he organized them into a people of peace and love, even under Roman occupation and persecution. ANYWAYS, I just think that the vision given to Constantine was one of peace. As in, you will truly conquer if you follow the cross, it’s representation and lay down your life for what you believe in. But Constantine used it to go to war. That just bothers me. ---

Y’know there is _some_ wisdom in the “Angels?” tract. I’m specifically thinking of when Lew Siffer (ha!), speaking of modern music genres, says “Everyone loves it because it _all_ sounds the same.” After listening to a Top 40 radio station recently, I’m inclined to agree. 😃 What I wanna know is why Satan gets all the good bands. If Chick were to tell me Satan was responsible for the success of, say, Barry Manilow and Kenny G, I might be more inclined to agree with him.
