Then you, and/or the people who feel this strongly about the need to see whatever body part, in whatever action, anytime, anyplace, need to campaign and petition to get the rules changed to that. As it stood on the day of the superbowl, there were rules in place, they were broken. And they were broken without the consent of the viewing public. It’s not a matter of them having been “harmed”. It’s a matter of appropiate behavior in the appropriate place. People have a reasonable expectations that certain places and times are to be treated with a measure of respect and decorum. The example I used earlier was that of my former dance team. The performances that we put together for a crowd of college students was FAR different than that which we’d put together for the annual christmas show at the old folks home. It’s not a matter of anyone being “hung up” or harmed by the breasts or inappropriate behaviour, it’s a matter of simple respect. As I said in the other thread, I was MOST disgusted by Janet’s lack of dancing choreography in the performance. I’m arguing this point NOT because I’m so hung up on boobs, I have a pair, and they’re a LOT of fun. I don’t speak for everyone else in this thread, or who is on the “this was inappropriate” side. This is just my personal viewpoint. I don’t think it deserves “oh my God the sky is falling” status either. But neither do I think that it deserves “sweep it under the rug and let them just get away with it” status. IT’s not a case of “either/or” more important issues CAN still be dealt with and shown on the news, AND this one can still be discussed and dealt with too. Your points of “people are too hung up on boobs and sex” has some validity. But again, there IS a time and place to make your statement. This wasn’t it. They screwed up. ---

Nope. There is no moral component to this whatsoever if you look at it as a fun legal distraction among celebrities you don’t particularly like, as I do. About, eh, 12 years ago the MBI (Metro Bureau Investigation – sounds serious, right?) went around “measuring the nipple coverings” on the local strippers. Yes, police enlistment went up dramatically, and we all felt much safer. Why shouldn’t these rich assholes with no common sense at least suffer some of the indignities of their moral and intellectual peers, strippers? ---

That was in response to the argument that somehow anyone who thinks there should be repercussions is anti-boob. I am pro-boob. No candidate has been more pro-boob throughout his whole career than I have. Only Washington insiders, big boobs, don’t understand the little guy. The only thing worse for bumping this for stupid correction is bumping it for someone bumping it. Someone will come in and grind on this thread next. I, for one, won’t stand for it. ---

Can’t I enjoy some celebrity schadenfreude (whew) without suggesting, however slightly that I might be a “tightass”? Though I must say, on superficial analysis, that might be better than the alternative. I, personally, hope every Christian conservative devotes every wanking hour of every day to this issue. This is the greatest single issue of importance in my lifetime. Nothing is more important that getting to the bottom of that nipple appliance. WTF? Seriously. Why? I like Janet Jackson’s confess… apology. I’ve heard CBS greenlighted the whole thing. That means, you guessed it, litigation. Wee! The feds don’t have to spend much money to investigate this, and can collect loads of fines – all while embarassing some of the most self-centered rich jackasses in entertainment. I’m hoping the locals get involved too. “Deep pockets” and all that. It’s a win-win situation. Last I checked, there is no “celebrity” exception to the rules governing, ahem, this sort of conduct. Hee-hee! It’s time the FCC made these people pay some money to show us breast. This is not exactly Iranian morality, folks. ---

Well, one of the problems there is that crotch-grabbing is pretty much a given on televised sports events. It’s really not much of a leap from baseball players adjusting their cups to Nelly clutching his jewels. Someone needs to tell all the crotch-centered performers that it’s about the same amount of erotic too. I don’t think people wouldn’t have complained.
