**Field of Dreams** when Archie “Moonlight” Grahm crossed over the line to save the girl from choking and giving up his chance to play baseball (extremely heavy symbolism) and at the end with the father and son playing catch (recapturing the past and righting the wrongs - more e.h.s.)… Honorable Mention goes to the video short of Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe and Mario Lemieux watching the skaters (Kariya, Bure, Lindros, and Jagr(?)) and talking of their past accomplishments and love of the game. Then the skaters come up to them and ask Wayne to come out join them, sliding the puck up to Wayne. Then the eyes of the past and present stared at each other for “that moment” and then you felt the torch being passed when Wayne slid the puck back to the skaters when he said, “No thanks guys, it’s your game now.” The skaters replied by clicking their sticks in tribute… Where the hell can I find that video short? ---

Yep, Titanic is so NOT manly, even the nude scene sucked ass, and yep Rudy will make a manly man such as myself a little misty every time. You guys should watch \* A Knights Tale \*. The scene towards the end when he is reunited with his father never fails to choke me up just a little bit. ---

**Schindler’s List**. The exact moment was right at the end, shortly after Oskar had been berating himself for not saving _one more_ life, and it cuts to the present and the long line of “Schindler’s Children” filing past the memorial and placing stones on it under the shadow of the tree that grows in his memory. **Gladiator** , when Maximus dies and the scene shifts to the Elysian Fields and his wife stoops and whispers to their son, an unheard something along the lines of “Here comes Daddy”. That’s almost got me going right here and now, never mind actually watching the film. (Of course, seeing how the film-makers played fast and loose with historical fact teared me up anyway, but that’s another story 🙂 ) ---

Hey, I got misty eyed during **Armageddon** , during the montage of death vigils across the world. That movie had all the manly man movie requirements — guns, explosions, babes, cowboy astronauts, and drinking. ---

Was reading this with a feeling of superiority thinking “I must be mayor of Manlyville - not so much as a sniff at any of these” -until **sirtonyh** mentioned Elephant man - Damn - \*\*_TI - FRICKIN’ - TANNIC?_ \*\* Real Men raise a toast to that 'burg everytime we see an icecube. The trouble with the “Shootist” is that Wayne had had at least two face-lifts by that time - which makes him as manly as a Ford Ka (with a white interior) ---

I second the following movies : Field of Dreams, Hoosiers, The end of the football game at in Jerry Maguire (not the last scene), Gladiator and Schinlder’s List. ``` I'll throw in Glory, Breaking Away and The Godfather III, but the last one mainly just because its so sad the had to ruin such a great franchise with that piece of junk. My Life and Titanic do not qualify. Neither does Forrest Gump. And its not a movie, but I can't help buy cry at the end of the Indiana University-Duke 2002 NCAA tourney game. ``` ---

Oh, and sorry for the double post, but was there ANYONE on here that did not get teary eyed when M. Ali took the last leg with the torch and lit the flame at the beginning of the Atlanta Olympics? No one had any idea that was coming. ---

I will admit, freely, I cried at the end of Dumb & Dumber. That busload of bikini models. I can’t believe they rejected a chance to rub suntan lotion on them {tear}. ---

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned **The Mission** (with Jeremy Irons and Robert DeNiro). Not only is it the saddest movie ever made, it also has the best film score. Oh – and I’ll admit that **What Dreams May Come** toyed shamelessly with my emotions until I was bawling like a baby toward the end. Barry ---

A true Manly Man would never admit to crying, period. If he were to shed a tear in private it might be when the British soldiers sing “Men of Harlech” (sp?) near the end of **ZULU**. Not that I would do that. ---

Well, there’s _Terms of Endearment_, but not for the reason you think. It’s that scene where the kids come in to say goodbye, and the older kid pretends he’s not affected at all. Later, he mouths off and gets a slap from Grandma MacLaine…excuse me I think my allergies are flaring up again… ---

Here’s one for me, in the Sixth Sense, when they first play the video tape, and you realize that the Mother has been slowly poisoning her little girl with pine sol in her chicken soup, so that the mother would get sympathy and attention, (Muchausen Syndrome I think it’s called), I lost it right there in the theater.
