For the love of PC games....STOP PIRATING!

Having to uninstall old drivers before installing new ones has not been necessary for the last couple of years. Before then, yes, it was more hassle than it needed ot be. But that’s just not the case anymore.

You cna long on to ATI or Nvidia, quickly locate your driver, downloadn and install. 1 minute tops.

As I pointed out most people won’t even update windows regularly unless forced. It doesn’t matter if it takes 1 minute or 50 most of the ‘causal’ market won’t do it.

one thing I havent seen mentioned in this thread, pc’s own the market in back compatibility, I can play damn near any game ever made for any system in the entire history of gaming on my friggin laptop. sure I need my pc for newer high end games but even then you are only talking about a small percentage of games on the market.

one thing I would like to see that would help the pc market (at the expense of consoles) would be the ability to go head to head console vs pc in games like cod4/halo/whatever. you figure out a way to set it up and I can pretty much guarantee console gamers will suddenly start looking into the pc market after getting their asses handed to them repeatedly in the games they think they are the best at.

Coming from a (relatively) competitive console game player, you’d end up with two brackets if that’s true. Keyboard and Mouse and Controller. I’d like to play against some good people in Halo 3 if they’re on keyboard and mouse.

That would be pretty wicked cool, but first they need to allow PS3 users play against 360.

I just have to chime in to say that this seems a bit dishonest. “Think they are the best at?” Playing shooters on a console is a different experience than playing them on a PC - the best UT or TF2 player with a keyboard or mouse might well get their ass handed to them if they were to square off with a controller.

Sure, PCs started the shooter trend and, thus, can claim to be the “right” way to play them, but that doesn’t change the fact that a stick is physically not as quick as a mouse, and thus the comparison is a moot one. And also that some 70% of FPS games are coming out on consoles first, so obviously the developers don’t consider them to be inferior platforms.

That is what World of Warcraft does. Once you set up your account, all your updates come when you log in to play.

WoW is the reason my household doesn’t do walmart any more. I was accused of trying to steal it. I bought a copy when it went live, but someone had lifted the discs out of the box and replaced them with AOL discs. When I tried to get the game replaced, and refused to accept some other random game of the same cost because they were sold out, no matter how I tried to explain that all i wanted was the key code in the box because you didnt need the discs to play, the manager stood there and told me that I didnt pay for 2 copies of the game, and told me that I could take a random game in trade and shut up or he could call the cops because I was trying to defraud them out of a second game.

Sheesh, if all I wanted was the keycode, I could have stolen it out of the box and left the now pretty much useless game discs and nobody would have known until they tried to actually log in and play. Most serous gamers dont want a random game that costs the same, I wanted to play a specific game. I would have been happy if he had called around to get me a copy of the game, which he didnt offer after I explained that I wanted a specific game. Hell, even the game store in the mall called around to find me a copy when I wanted a second copy for mrAru to create an account…

You say that as if you’re supposed to expect more service from Wal-Mart than a game store. There’s a reason prices are so low at Wal-Mart, you know.
