I do have to inform y’all that the one for North Dakota is incorrect. THe _correct_ motto: North Dakota: We’re so windy because Montana blows and Minnesota sucks. Tripler Trust me, of these matters I know. ---

I too really enjoyed not having the time change while I lived in Indiana, although we had to remember that suddenly all of our favorite TV shows were on an hour later/earlier. ---

Even Alaska and Florida have “panhandles” that extend along their coasts away from their peninsular main bodies, but Michigan is entirely on peninsulas. I do not say tht it is a _good_ motto, but it hardly seems strange. ---

I learned more about Texas than I really wanted to know. 😉 I’ll never forget the time in Belgium when my pal from Houston got a package from homes with popcorn in it. “Now,” he bragged, “You guys will have some real popcorn. Some Texas popcorn as only Texans can grow it.” Or words to that effect. It’s been a long time. Anyway, I took the can and read off the brand. Jolly Time Popcorn, Sioux City, Iowa. ---

I, too, was rather disappointed with the Maryland motto. I think we can borrow JFK’s (i think) famous quote about Washington: Maryland: Northern Charm, Southern Efficiency. ---

Manitoba: home of the famous Marijuana Mines. Ontario: Bigger than you, and now whiny too. Québec: _Je me souviens… toujours_. New Brunswick: Bilingual and still forgotten. Nova Scotia: Cold, damp, but historic. Prince Edward Island: Enough about the bridge already. Newfoundland: Still mad about 1949. And the territories: Yukon: Halfway between BC and Alaska.
