Based on tonight’s New York Times report, it looks like Yemen has been bombed, by the U.S., for twelve days in a row so far:
The U.S./UK bombing campaign ended on May 6, per Wikipedia, with a agreed ceasefire.
According to my last link, the Houthis agreed to allow U.S. shipping but said they would continue to block Israeli shipping. Since almost all cargo ships fly flags of convenience and are otherwise international, this makes little sense.
Is the Houthi maritime crisis over? Did the Trump administration even perhaps luck into a little war where the U.S. won?
The beauty of being Trump (and by extension a Trump toadie) is that you just declare victory no matter the actual outcome. For some reason, the media doesn’t call you out on it.
On the Iran bombing, I’ve seen a lot of media saying that the Iran nuclear project may have been only slightly harmed. That’s why Trump is going homophobic on CNN’s Anderson Cooper (this one I don’t want to give a link for), and otherwise blasting the media (albeit for different reasons than you are slamming the media).
But this thread is about the March-May 2025 bombing of Yemen. Are you saying that the outcome was not what I think? Then what was the outcome “the media” is failing to report? Is shipping still avoiding the area?
Taken together, the reports paint a picture of an aircraft carrier that was not only beset by regular missile attacks that stressed the crew but also other operational demands that put pressure on top leaders to the point that the ship’s captain and navigator were extremely sleep-deprived. That was just halfway through an eight-month deployment originally slated to last six months.
One report also found that, in some parts of the ship, the intense combat operations “led to a numbness among the crew” and some sailors “lost sight of the purpose of their role to the mission.”
The four preventable mishaps cost the Navy over $100 million in three lost aircraft and damage to the Truman as well as injuries to multiple sailors. While no one died, several of the mishaps hinged on just seconds of reaction time.
If fighting a group like the Houthi causes all these problems, there is no way the Navy could handle extended conflict with the Russians or Chinese.
TBF the issue of overextension in the US Navy has been floating (ha) about for a while (e.g. the episodes of collissions a few years back). Add to it that for decades they hadn’t had to test themselves in a true prolonged active confrontation with someone who will actually keep shooting while providing sea lanes cover over a very large extension.
Well, let’s hope at least that they’re learning from all this.
If it makes you feel any better, the Russian Navy seems to be in even worse shape, with issues like sailors stealing fire extinguishers to sell in port becoming so widespread that they locked up the fire extinguishers, which proved… Problematic… When the ship caught fire.

China hasn’t been tested in the same way, so it’s hard to say what shape they are in. They’ve had some recent leadership purges, which is never a good sign.
Where are you seeing that they fire extinguishers were locked up? Unless I’m missing something, your linked article doesn’t discuss this.
The claim originates from a leaked translated Russian report about the state of the Moskva that I first heard reported on by Perun around 33 minutes into this video:
I was looking for a written article about what I’d remembered from the video not wanting to link an hour+ video but I guess this article didn’t mention that same detail.
If true, locked up fire extinguishers are not really fire extinguishers.
