Wonderful. Not only is the Virginia legislature considering a law [requiring the reporting of miscarriages](http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?051+sum+HB1677), already being [Pitted](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=295689), not only are they gearing up for an [anti-gay-marriage amendment](http://indorgs.virginia.edu/uvapride/view_news.php?newsID=290) to their constitution, they’ve decided as well that it would be a swell idea to offer [anti-gay-marriage license plates](http://indorgs.virginia.edu/uvapride/view_news.php?newsID=298) to their populace. God-fucking-damn…and people wonder why we fags get all drama queeny over little things like this… ---

I thought we already had a DOMA…now we’re going for this much more? I guess the Traditional Marriage folks will have license plates to put in their “Truth, not Tolerance” license plate holders, right above their “[man figure] + [woman figure] = marriage” bumper stickers and a variety of other things I’ve seen in this state. Frankly the only part of it that bothers me anew is that the state will be making (more?) money off this. However, the eventual embarrassment will be nice to see when gay marriage is allowed … eventually … ---

Now wait a minute. Where’s the money go? 'Cuz if it’s not somewhere offensive, I’d say that that’s a plate that every gay couple in the state of Virginia ought to get. As in “That’s all we’re asking for – a traditional marriage.” ---

Maybe I can’t _top_ your item, but I can get close! Here in Topeka, Kansas the City Council recently passed an ordinance banning discrimination in city hiring based on sexual orientation. It was a much watered down version of a broader proposal banning such discrimination in public and city hiring, and in housing as well. Betther than nothing. So now Fred Phelps and his cult, the Westboro Baptist Church, have managed to get enough signatures on a petition to have the Council either reconsider the change, or to have the issue put to a public vote. A lot of their signatures were rejected as not being Topeka residents, or disqualified for other valid reasons. But they still scrounged up enough names that now Topeka is in danger of losing the one little bit of progress towards complete equal rights that has been made recently. ---

I originally saw this on my Livejournal friends’ list, and someone had made a suggestion there that with just a little bit of gold paint, those two interlocked wedding rings could quite easily become interlocked male or female symbols… 😃 ---
