I don’t know if this should strictly count, since it has no visual content whatsoever, just text, but I remember this one being referred to more than once back in the day: [Roy Orbison Wrapped In Cling Film](https://michaelkelly.artofeurope.com/orb1.htm) ---

Regarding my Orbison In Cling Film post above: This, along with many of the memes already mentioned in this thread, I first discovered somewhat after the fact through the now long defunct website [Memepool](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memepool). (I got my first internet connection, somewhat late, in 2001 through Roadrunner in San Diego. As part of the package, they included an actual physical book which turned out to be a quite useful guide to the Internet for those new to it. It included detailed technical information, an introduction to Usenet, a guide to netiquette—remember that?—and a list of recommended sites for beginners to visit. This list included the aforementioned Memepool—and also a message board originated by fans of something called The Straight Dope by Cecil Adams. ‘I know what that is!’ said I (having read the books) and proceeded to bookmark it—possibly my first bookmark ever. And now it’s 2026.) ---
