Fork Hillary 3: The Final Forking

It was breaking news on MSNBC, quoted from the Times. Andrea Mitchell verified it. Looks like the NY Dems put the screws to her. Charlie Rangle was pissed and I doubt he was the only one.

She was so classless and damaging to the party yesterday, that they had to get her out. It’s amazing how many people don’t see how disrepectful she was last night, but Rangle and the NY Dems did.

She seriously miscalculated and if I hear another reporter, tell me that “she needed time…” I’m gonna puke.

It’s being reported by everybody and his Reverend (in the case of the Washington Times). If Clinton’s people don’t go out and start contradicting it soon, that should be all the confirmation you need, I think.

It’s bizzaro world in Clinton land…one of her supporters Lenny something or other was just on MSNBC, telling us that “She needed time…but that time could’ve spread out to weeks…WEEKS, as it was a day to day decision.” Can you imagine? She wouldn’t reduce her delegates for WEEKS!

Thank god, those guys found the guts, to tell her to get out.

Why does she even have to wait until friday? She should have done it today at the latest. I think it’s inexcusable to drag it out for even one more day.

Yeah, but c’mon. God only knows what she means by phrases like “suspend my campaign” or “endorse Obama”. After all, we know that in her lexicon, she calls a conditional statement that expresses regret and excludes Obama’s family an “apology”. Maybe when she says she’ll suspend her campaign, it just means that she acknowledges there aren’t any more primaries and nothing more. Who knows whether she’ll release her delegates? Maybe by endorse, she means a qualified statement that he may be able to win for all she knows. If a person isn’t gun shy about her intentions by now, then he’s just plain dumb as a bag of walnuts — excluding any Dopers participating in these discussions, of course.

If she waits until Friday, she can dominate the weekend news programs. If she announced today, she would risk being trumped by an earthquake in Peru or something. Must maximise the press attention, otherwise she’s in a world of hurt finance-wise.

What I wouldn’t give to have been a fly on the wall during that teleconference with Rangle and 'em.

According to MSNBC, a bunch of Senators had a come to Jesus meeting with her this afternoon and basically gave her 48 hours. The reporter on MSNBC said it still (according to her sources) took quite a bit of talking.

I can wait until Friday, so long as she’s clear and unequivocal in withdrawing, and full-throatedly and wholeheartedly endorses Obama. But I’ll believe it when I see it.

Bonus points: She says she owes it to her constituents to return to the Senate and work hard for them there, and will under no circumstances accept the VP nomination. For that, I’m not holding my breath.

Who wants tea and cookies?

I’d feel better if Felix Yusupov was providing the refreshments.

There’s a new sheriff in town.

Apparently Barack is borrowing a few tactics from LBJ’s textbook. Sounds like he gave Lieberman the Johnson Treatment.

I think it’s far past time that someone told Lieberman that he can go suck it. The only thing he ever did was caucus with the Democrats. That was important this time, but next time it won’t be. Good on Obama. I hope he told him that he’d be stripped of all committees ASAP, and forcefully challenged at the next election. Go shop yourself around with the Republicans, Joe, see what they tell you. They don’t give a shit about him. They just like the fact that he’s a pebble in the Democrat’s shoe. They won’t give him anything.

Don’t let anyone tell you that Obama is a pushover.

Where real politics intersects with idealistic politics.

According to Andrea Mitchell, it was an intervention. Looks like Clinton’s inner circle, called the NY Dems in order to have them talk to Clinton, as she wouldn’t listen them…just like a junkie.

It’s stupid and mawkish, but this wave of sadness for her just swept over me. It’s over for her, and she finally realizes it (if this latest news is accurate), and there’s a real element of tragedy to that, even for this Obama supporter.

Yeah… as someone else pointed out, she’s probably had a dream of being the first woman president for decades. Which is probably a dream that lots of young women have, but most never get anywhere near it. To have a dream that seemingly impossible, then, against all odds, to come within (what seems like) a hair’s breadth of it, after having it seem all but assured by the pundits for a while, and the have it snatched away, must be truly heartbreaking.
Nonetheless, she still needs to get herself composed and start supporting Barack in a big hurry.

And now the event has been moved to Saturday “to give more of her supporters a chance to attend.”

Shayna, check you PM.

Wasn’t she the one who told Obama, while he was mired in the Reverend Wright smear campaign, that if you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen? Fuck her.

If I were Obama, I wouldn’t even show up. I’d send a junior aide.
