If this is so, and barring an electoral meltdown, it means Obama needs just a third, roughly, of the remaining superdelegates to get a first-ballot nomination.
Sen. Clintion, I know you like the heat and all that, but isn’t it about time you came out of the oven?
That’s exactly what it means…Lot’s of people are scratching their heads. It doesn’t surprise me Clinton staying in…but I am excited to hear her “exit interview”.
The defections appear to be coming from Clinton’s side primarily…and have been for a while. I think people who analyze the hell out of things like superdelegates … and like some of us here - can see it’s just about impossible for Clinton to wiggle much at all. And if current trend holds the next several primaries will be close with Obama ultimately doing the presidential jig.
Honest to Og, I just don’t fucking get it. The woman is practically a carbon copy of W. She’s a blatant liar and a blow-hard, willing to step into the office of the Presidency already racking up international enemies. Aren’t we as a nation sick and bloody tired of all the saber rattling and blustering against our “enemies”? Haven’t we seen how disastrous that attitude’s been over the last 7 years? Why on earth would anyone want more of the same, let alone Democrats??? It’s just stunning and bewildering.
It’s because of how the media frame and present her. They encourage and enable her. They cover Rev Wright endlessly while saying nothing about Hillary’s Doug Coe. And frankly, many of them are either racist bigots or rabid vultures who actually enjoy trashing Obama.
If it’s Obama v. McCain in the general, it will be true.
One will be George W. Bush, policywise, only even more so. Bigger tax cuts even more tilted towards the rich, just as committed to staying in Iraq forever, and little interest in even the generalities of domestic policy, let alone the details.
The other will have a preacher who’s a Scary Black Man.
If it’s Obama v. McCain, this election will in fact be an IQ test for the American people.
When I recall the words of H.L. Mencken (“Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard.”), I fear for my country.
Not only is it a ridiculous premise, neither of them can make it happen! You might as well promise people free handjobs from that little number down at the IHOP for all the chance it has of actually happening.
