It’s “Ding-dong”, but I personally don’t want to go there, however much she and her campaign have infuriated me in this primary season. We need her supporters in November. I just keep repeating that and it helps me to not get TOO offensive toward them. That and trying to emulate Barack Obama’s demeanor and approach. I’ll admit that I’ve made some very nasty comments since February, and they may even have been deserved at the time, but we need that 48% or so of the electorate who have been cheering her on. And stuff like singing “Ding-dong the witch is dead” aren’t really helping them to move on to Obama.
The primary is essentially over. We need to take the next 6 months and heal the party…it’s been a brutal season. If we don’t come together, we’re going to end up playing Hail To The Chief for Grampy McSame.
I could be mistaken, but I believe most of his Iowa, or perhaps SC, delegates had gone over to the Obama camp at the next level of delegate electing conventions(legislative district?). I don’t know about NH or how the numbers broke down exactly however.
I must agree - I got caught up in the moment of thinking of a song for Hillary. Unfortunately that was the first one that came to mind.
However, I watched Obama field questions from Wolf Blitzer last evening and he was asked questions about John McCain. He told Wolf that he needs to concentrate on the rest of the primary, and not worry about McCain until his deal is sealed. The restraint and measurement he took responding to a guy like Wolf Blitzer was remarkable - I agree his supporters including myself, should follow that lead.
But sometimes, jayjay - I remember all the nasties she threw at him blatently and I get a little tinge of angst towards her and her campaign.
Oh what an exit! That’s how to go!
When they’re ringing your curtain down
Demand to be forked like Hillary C
It’s quite a sunset
And good for the party in a roundabout way
We’ve made the front page of all the world’s papers today
But who is this Hillary Clinton?
Why all this howling hysterical sorrow?
What kind of goddess has lived among us?
How will we ever get by without her?
She had her moments–she had some style
The best show in town was the crowd
Thinking the Casa Blanca, crying “Hillary C”
But that’s all gone now
As soon as the smoke from the campaign clears
We’re all going to see and how she did nothing for years
Given the sorry state of political journalism, one could be better informed by shoving one’s head up a hippo’s rectum. But that’s neither here nor there.
I doubt that it’s for show. As long as she’s in the race, she’ll be probing for some issue or sound bite she can exploit in order to stage yet another “comeback”, with the best-case scenario of a full-blown wrangle at the convention.
Any perceived lull in the hostilities is just that - a temporary lull.
I’m not so sure she is going to resurge against Obama. The country knows she’ll win WV and she may have a day or two of … something resembling a victory…but her stance is still the same, and she will still not be able to convince anyone to make her the president. All of this news the last week is in light of a loss in NC but a win in IN. This campaign is over on more fronts than simply what she may be able to dig-up in terms of soundbites.
MSNBC says that two of her top staffers are negotiating book deals, which according to the pundit is an exit signal. His reasoning was that a person who felt he was in line for a longterm White House job wouldn’t make that kind of commitment.
I agree that we who have been Obama supporters should follow Obama’s lead with regard to his feisty competitor. No gloating, etc. Hillary was amazingly resilient, fought a tough battle, has a lot of loyal supporters, and rubbing it in that she isn’t going to be the nominee isn’t going to help those supporters come around to supporting Obama, as we want.
But besides which, let’s just be good sports. A toast to Hillary Clinton, for a game fought hard and well! She’s a fighter, and that’s not nothing.
