“I are the change we had been waiting for…”?
All our changes belong to me?
There was an AP story last week about how that debt is basically fine – if she wins the nomination, she can use the remaining weeks of fundraising to cover those debts and then start saving for the general. If she doesn’t, then she can move money around between her Senate re-election account and the pile she already has saved up for the general, and pay off everything except the debts from personal loans.
In other words, she’s only gambling with her own money.
Well, moreso with the money of whoever still sends her money on the mistaken assumption that she has a chance of winning the nomination.
Not quite true. She does need to pay off the debts to all but herself, so it is only her money she is gambling with, but she cannot use general election donations to pay off primary run debts. She cannot move money around. Those monies need to be returned (minus “handling fees”)h. Debts need to be paid by 120 days from reciept of the bill.
See below:
So you’re right - she can’t just move the mopney; she would have to get permission to move the debt to her Senate campaign and then pay it off with general election funds. The last sentence notes that it’s not entirely clear whether this is legal.
This emphasizes how she’s an ordinary person just like us. She moves her piles of money around the same way we all do.
Yes, but she uses a front-end loader, while the rest of us use a wallet or purse.
I can haz change?
Edwards will endorse Obama tonight!
Yippeeee! Doesn’t mean much, but I’m glad to see it.
Just confirmed on CNN! 'bout freaking time he did.
BTW, Lib, past – and rather bitter I might add – political arguments aside, I am really, really glad you see this man in the same light I do. Namely, while he is certainly not perfect, I think he represents the best choice the US has had in a looong time in terms of doing the greater good for the majority of Americans – and almost by default, due to your nation’s immense power, for the rest of the world.
We really need to come together. Glad to have you on-board.
Bold move.
Add that to Clinton’s more concilliatory remarks today and it really looks like she’s seen the writing on the wall.
I thought CNN’s website was interesting. In Big Red letters they’ve got Edwards to Endorse Obama" and next to that a quote from HRC - * she said it would be a “terrible mistake” for her supporters to vote for John McCain over Barack Obama. "I’m going to work my heart out for whoever our nominee is – * Heh…and here I thought CNN didn’t like Obama.

How brave of Edwards. Talk about jumping on the bandwagon late.
And what the hell is up with Obama wearing a flag pin?
For how mad her campaign has made me at times, I always and up feeling bad for Hillary when I see her like she was on CNN today.
Edwards’ endorsement just makes me more upset that I can’t be in Grand Rapids tonight, ugh!
NARAL, the National Abortion Rights Action League, endorses Obama. Ouch, that’s got to hurt, Hillary being a woman and all.
He’s doing it in GR? Cool! So glad to see Michigan becoming part of the action!
I feel the same way as I did when she lost her composure before New Hampshire. She’s only feeding fuel to the misogynists’ fires, if you will, and it doesn’t help the next qualified female presidential candidate when the time comes.
They haven’t been?
