Al Giordano has something interesting to say:
I have no idea whether we can take either of them to the bank (or even the pawnshop), but we can wait and see.

I can’t believe I have never heard of that guy before. Additonally, I was expecting vitriol and crap in the comments, but it’s quite civil and much like our discussions here. Cool. Thank you.
I had no idea that Dirk Pitt’s diving buddy and right-hand man was so interested in politics.
Well, it would help explain why, in the face of inexplicable personal bitchslaps and party betrayals, he has continued to speak well of her and basically cowtow to her wishes to be adored and seen as a fighter rather than a spoiled brat sore loser.
Looks like Obama’s national lead against McCain is broadening See.
This even before he has been chosen as the nominee. Somewhere, maybe even in this thread somewhere deep in the 30+ pages we spoke about his lead over McCain strengthening once he is the nominee - and once Clinton supporters begin to coalesce around him. If that is already happening, we could see some big leads from the dems this year. I for one would love to see Obama enter November 6th with a 15+ percentage point lead.
Hillary supporters are leaking over to Obama.

Very encouraging, but of course we shouldn’t count our chickens just yet. Mike Dukakis had much bigger lead over George H.W. Bush in the polls at this point in the 1988 campaign.
I’m not trying to count chickens, instead I’m packing the war chest. McCain’s got a money problem, Obama does not. This is going to be a very interesting ride to the White House.
The thing I find the most vexing about the H situation is that she simply doesn’t understand that the superdelegates aren’t idiots. They know she’s been rules lawyering her way through this whole contest.
Remember when Obama and Edwards took their names off the ballots in Michigan? I always felt suspicious after that. I just knew she was going to try to run unopposed and then later count the votes, but she said, “We all know that the votes in Michigan aren’t going to count” and also said that she didn’t think it mattered whether or not her name was on the ballot.
So fast foward a few weeks later when she first mentions seating Florida and Michigan. Then I though, “Well maybe she does mean it for the good of the party as well as her good” Because maybe she would compromise.
Then a few weeks ago she was presented with probably one of the most likely plans she’ll get. It was the 69 59 plan that gave Obama delegates too. She rejected it. It’s painfully obvious to all of us who’ve been paying attention now. She only wants to seat Michigan giving Obama 0 delegates. And her interest in the Florida and Michigan votes only became more intense as it became clear she wouldn’t win without having it settled in that way.
Also, wins in the popular vote stemmed from, “More voters cast a ballot for Hillary than…” Which conveniently excludes caucuses, and conveniently includes elections where she ran unopposed. Terry McAuliffe who literally makes me feel ill when I see him on TV at least was honest with Hillary’s strategy the other day. He says that he thinks that the fact that there are uncommitted superdelegates is a signal that they nervous about Obama. If that’s what he wants to believe fine. I think it is simply being too reluctant to have to pick sides when you don’t really want to.
But someone should tell Hillary that she shouldn’t try to rules-lawyer her way to the nomination. Everyone sees it exactly for what it is, and there is NO WAY Michigan will be settled so strongly in her favor. I simply don’t see it happening at all.
Guess what? I see her taking it to the convention. For this woman there is no end. It’s what happens though, right? You simply think, “Well there’s no way she can get any lower…” and yet she finds a way to top (or bottom?) herself. So really this is why I see it going to the convention. She won’t leave until the rest of the party pushes her out the door. The rest of the party tries and tries again to give her a way to exit with some dignity, and yet she refuses. She is literally going to make her colleagues turn on her. They don’t want to do it, but she is putting them in the position.
It’s completely opposite to historical election fundraising. It’s always been the Republicans who’ve been swimming in money and large donors, and the Democrats (admittedly) whining about not being able to compete against their almighty dollar lead. I love seeing this finally turn around!
Ironically, due to McCain’s (at least the previous version) own noble efforts toward reform.
I am suffused with the strangest sensation, like a pleasant anticipation for coming events, a sense that things might, in fact, improve greatly. Very odd.
It’s an odd sense elucidator - I have been getting it too. It’s kinda cool.
Man, and I got to wait till 2016 before I can feel that way.
Don’t count the chickens yet. The right wing smear machine has yet to start belching bile. A terror attack could scare security moms into McCain’s arms. When Obama is elected without Hillary as VP, I’ll be relieved, but not a moment before.
I don’t see any reason to think Obama won’t field the smear machine the same way - and tougher - than he did with Clinton.
The reason is Obama doesn’t need a smear machine to win, in addition to being a better man for eschewing it.
It was encouraging that he responded quickly and forcefully to Bush last week. If only Gore or Kerry had known how to do that we wouldn’t be in the fix we’re in now. And at least with McCain he doesn’t have to pull the punch the way he did with Shrillary.
Come on! We won. It’s over. Do we need to call her names? Every time someone calls her Shrillary or a “bitch” or makes a joke about her girdle being too tight…it all just gives her supporters ammunition to fuel their inflated sense of sexist persecution.
There’s more than enough factual effluvia concerning her campaign and the way it was run that we don’t need to drop it to a playground level. Take your cue from Obama…class, please. That doesn’t mean you have to let inaccuracies and spin just lay there, but address the facts without bringing the childish crap in with it.
You’re probably right. I know we shouldn’t mock her because we need her supporters. It’s just so hard to resist slapping someone so eminently slappable.
