It’s difficult to tell what is or isn’t true these days but apparently it is true that he’s been found dead and that there’s an ongoing investigation. Some think that he was involved in leaking the unverified “golden showers” memo, but that’s hardly definitive. I’m sure that they have more sophisticated ways of faking natural causes these days, or it could have been a heart attack. ---

Why do these news sources always exaggerate? He was at one point a general in KGB. Never was a “KGB Chief”. He has not served in the KGB (or FSB as it is now called) since the 90s. Also, why “the death occurring at this time seems strange”? The man died on Dec. 26th, of a heart attack, at the age of 61. Why is Dec. 26 strange? Russian male life expectancy is, AFAIU, around 64. ---

If he was involved in the leak, it’s obvious that pointing towards that connection is good journalism. If he was not involved in the leak, pointing towards him just helps to protect whomever really was involved. Either way, conspiracies sell news stories. This whole mess will end up just like JFK. People will be writing books about it for decades to come, trying to parse “truth” from “reality”. ---
