Former President vs. their VP--has it ever happened before?

And if you’re wondering (like I was, until I looked it up) who Cleveland’s vice president was from 1885 until the end of his term, the answer is… nobody. Prior to the passage of the 25th amendment, there wasn’t a mechanism for appointing a replacement VP, and the office was simply left vacant on 16 occasions, sometimes for years at a time.

…And Yogi Bear wasn’t named after Yogi Berra

…And Skippy peanut butter wasn’t named after the popular comic strip “Skippy”

…And so on, and so on.

And, in fact, Taft was endorsed and basically hand-picked by Roosevelt, for his first run. Apparently he didn’t live up to TR’s expectations.

I believe he accomplished something approaching that in 2020. I did see Pence on his Harley in leather, which can unbland a man.

Pence has ridden motorcycles at past events, including a veterans fundraiser when he was governor of Indiana in 2016.

It’s unclear whether he owns the bike he rode on Saturday, which looked like a Harley Street Glide.

I think if he actually owned a motorcycle of any brand, it would be known.

I have a feeling nobody on Earth could live up to TR’s expectations. Kinda like being good enough in Chuck Norris’es eyes. Just ain’t happening with mere mortals.

I’m pretty sure Geroge W Bush was named after George H W Bush…

As would losing to the man he tried to get killed.

A reminder that this is FQ. Historical precedents are factual. How Trump or anyone else would react to situations is hypothetical, and not proper FQ material.
