My problem is I tell them I’m an Engineer, and I also tell them I have already researched in advance everything that can be known about the car and it’s features. When I went to buy my Mustang, I told the dealers “I am going to buy a 1998 Mustang GT with option packages X, Y, and Z (and I named the proper codes for all the packages). I am paying cash for the car. The only conversation we need to have is what price.”
But no. They don’t understand that. They want to start telling me about these other great options I should have, and about why it’s actually better if I get financing than paying cash, and how I really should learn about how the engine works, etc.
It makes me want to kill someone. I mean, a person is standing in front of you saying “I’m going to buy this car, I have a checkbook, let’s talk price” and you’re going out of your way to talk down to them? WTF?
Sorry, this became an unintended rant. Please forgive me Manny.
