I was handed a bottle of Four Paws Brewers Yeast tablets as a suggested supplement to feed my cat. The usual claimed benefits one might expect, shiny coat, pest control, the like. And a little ribbon thing at the bottom of the label that said, “with Garlic”. What the fuck? Why? Do they not understand that garlic is poison for dogs and cats? If not, should they be in this business in the first place? And if they do understand this, how then can they not be evil assholes? Shun Four Paws if you are buying things for your animals, anyone this irresponsible does not deserve your money. ---

Some people believe it is a “holistic” solution to flea problems ( same for yeast for that matter - supposedly it makes the blood unpalatable ). It’s likely the amount of garlic in those tablets is tiny and therefore not a serious threat otherwise these guys would have been put out of business faster than you can say ‘melamine’. **Wellness** for example, the ultra-premium dog and cat food company, adds trace amounts of garlic to some of their brands to increase food palatablility and claim the amount is too tiny to be a health concern. But I still wouldn’t bother with those tablets. Probably does nothing = probably a waste of money, even if it is harmless. ---

Cyanide is extremely poisonous to humans. Doesn’t stop me eating apples, seeds and all. ---
