No, that’s not what I’m saying. Roku isn’t the broadcaster in this situation, YouTube is. YouTube would laugh Roku out the door if they tried to leverage against them because of a single content provider.
I don’t think that YouTube would get pulled, but rather (made up) channels like Liberal News Network, QueerTV, and SocialismToday would be targets for Trump and RW to have pulled. However, I don’t think Roku being owned by Fox particularly makes those channels more vulnerable. I suspect that whichever platform had channels like those would be pressured to remove them regardless of whether the platform was owned by Fox or one of the others. I’m guessing that Bezos would drop the channels from FireTV if he thought leaving them would negatively impact Amazon’s revenue.
The only time I used Roku was camping and the rented trailer I used had it on the TV. I noticed then that MSNOW was not included and thought that they must be a right-leaning company.
MS Now literally announced their coming standalone subscription service last week. Until it goes live, you can’t get it directly on any streaming platform without a subscription to a live TV provider. Has nothing to do with Roku or their politics.
Oh, based on the content provided, they are, no doubt at all. Not just many of the channels, but much of the advertising, too. It’s hard to miss if you watch the content at all.
That said, there are currently quite a few channels that don’t fit the conservative mold, as I previously noted. We’ll see if that changes. I still suspect it will, even if it takes awhile.
Oh I bet you’re right. I didn’t realize it hadn’t already happened. Thanks for the feedback, I guess I need to find the correct reason for the problems I’m having.
