[Not that it was huge surprise but at least it’s acknowledged](Shep Smith comes out as gay). I realize that being gay is not correlated to his choice of employment, but to be surrounded by all those non-gay supporting colleagues at Fox and hang on in that environment is kind of (to me) a strange choice. It’s not like he’s going to miss a meal if he quit at this point. Then again where in the media world is a 50 something newsman going to be able to start over as a headliner, especially coming from Fox.

> The popular Fox News anchor, who has been with the network since it first launched 20 years ago, spoke about his sexuality in an interview with Huffington Post.
>
> Smith, 52, confirmed the long-circulating rumor when he was asked if it was former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes who prevented him from coming out of the closet.
>
> ‘That’s not true. He was as nice as he could be to me. I loved him like a father,’ Smith said of Ailes.
>
> The ‘love’ Smith had for his old boss is why it was so difficult for him to deal with the network’s sexual harassment scandal this past summer.
>
> ‘I trusted him with my career and with - I trusted him and trusts were betrayed,’ Smith said of Ailes.

Back when I used to pay attention to the news I used to always like Shep the best. He was always the most straightforwards and relatable. (wait, why is there a red line under that? relatable is a word right?).

Good for him being comfortable enough to come out and stuff.

Was it The Daily Show with Jon Stewart that used to have fun showing clips of Shep Smith? The one I remember in particular was a series of clips of him talking about the HBO series True Blood and asking the other correspondents if they’d seen the latest episode.

Well, at least the women who work at Fox News no longer have to wonder why he wasn’t sexually harassing them.

It means it’s not in your browser’s dictionary. You should be able to right-click it and add it.

I’m no Fox News fan, but how do you know his colleagues didn’t support him?
