I find her to be pleasant on the eyes but am not enamoured by her. I don’t understand the vitriole. At a job I once had, some of us were passing around a Playboy back in the warehouse. (Ah, the sexual-harrassment-lawsuit-free '80s!) The Playmate of the month was, in my opinion, extremely beautiful. I showed it to one of our sales guys with a comment like, “The centerfold’s pretty hot this month.” He looked at her, then looked at me like I was nuts, and said: “She’s black!” I said, “Uhm, yeah, and she’s also gorgeous.” He repeated, “But she’s _black_.” As if he simply coudn’t wrap his mind around the idea, the mere _suggestion_, that a white man might possibly find a black woman attractive. He was definitely one of those “I’m-not-racist-but…” types. Though I don’t think he thought she was _ugly_ per se, just that she didn’t even merit his decision-making effort on the matter. I think the people throwing around “repulsive” and “pig” and so forth are coming from a similar, but much darker, place. (I didn’t hang out with that guy much after that.) ---
