I have no problem with MBJ as the Torch if he plays the role well. I have no problem with a thin Brit playing the Thing, given all the CGI going on these days - if Jamie can swing the Noo Yawk accent, he may do a fine job. My brain simply shuts down at the thought of 27-year-old Miles Teller playing Mr. Fantastic, whose most identifiable feature is his salt-n-pepper sideburns. The FF’s with Ioan Gryffud (sp?) playing Mr. F were a big enough stretch (groan). This is just hilarious. ---

This is just hilarious. The Fantastic Four Babies angle is annoying too. Reed was a mature character from issue #1. The age of the characters is a bit of stunt casting too. This is just hilarious. Just like most of the current Marvel Studios movies and the current Spider-Man movies, it’s based on Marvel’s Ultimate universe. Where the FF were all, in fact, teenagers. So these four are actually all too old for the parts. Again, not ‘stunt casting’. It’s an adaptation of an acclaimed take on the characters. ---

Meh. I’ll wait to see what the buzz is like next year before I pass final judgement. The casting doesn’t really matter much, because Fox will screw it up in so many other ways. 😛 ---

I wish Marvel would get themselves a decent lawyer and start being a bit more protective of their characters when it comes to Fox. As far as I know, they bought the rights to the FF, but does that really cover Silver Surfer? He is a well established character in his own right. You could probably also argue that the Ultimate universe FF is not the same as the main FF. I don’t really mind them having X-men, as Marvel seems to have enough on its plate at the moment, but I’m pretty sure putting Quicksilver in the next X-men movie is just Fox trying to cause problems for Marvel (he’s going to have about 30 seconds of screen-time in that movie) Also, Deadpool is not a mutant, so is he really under Fox’s control? ---

The other movies could tap into the Ultimate stuff without backlash because the Ultimate versions weren’t drastic departures from the iconic ones (except maybe black Nick Fury). UFF has them as teens in some kind of genius school getting their powers from a teleportation experiment gone awry, which is a big shift from what most people know. ---

Jordan (boy that’s a rough one) was cast first a long time ago. They just now casted everyone else. ---

Because unfortunately that would also mean making Reed Richards black, because the country would come to an end if there was an inter-racial superhero relationship. Plus, having three of the four black (and the other one rock) would turn it into a “black” movie, which no studio wants one of its tent pole superhero blockbusters to be tagged as.
