Is anyone involved in FPS game design. I have a background in CG for fields like GIS and Plant Design but would like to tinker with designing a game. What would be a good starting point for doing this?

TIA and regards

Testy

[www.gamedev.net](http://www.gamedev.net) (especially their forums).
[www.flipcode.com](http://www.flipcode.com) (currently being renovated, I think most users now use GDnet).

Generally, there’s a lot of very nice free engines out there (open source) which take care of graphics, physics and maths for you and let you get on with designing the game.

Do a Google search for Ogre and Irrlicht, I think they’re two of the best.

Thanks for these. It looks useful. I’m thinking of trying to put together a VR-based game.

Thanks
