Meh. I liked the old Frank better. Never believe it when they say new and improved.
On a serious note, the patch worked wonders for me too. I know a lot of people who it didn’t work for but it was perfect for me. It’s been six years or so for me. I’m much happier and healthier. I bit fatter though.
Congratulations, Frank. This is a wonderful thing you’ve done. I only wish I could.
Maybe some day…
Congrat’s, Frank!
Me next.
That’s really cool! Keep it up! If you keep off the smokes, you may have to change your user name.
My father did it in his thirties after twenty years as a smoker. More than thirty years later he’s still smoke free. Here’s hoping you can do the same. You’re off to a very good start. Keep up the good work!
Awesome Frank. I am inspired.
I am going to try to quit again.
I am reading Alan Carr’s “Easy Way to Stop Smoking”
I think I am ready to do this.

.
Thanks for that. I’d forgotten the author and title.
My order is in at Amazon.
I also ordered Piper at the Gates of Dawn and Obscured by Clouds.
Aside from a hearty “Congrats, Frank!”, that’s what I came in to mention. I read the book, and dropped a 25-year habit without breaking a sweat. I wish I’d known earlier just how stupidly easy quitting could be with the right mindset.
Good luck to everyone else who wants to ditch the butts!
Well now, careful that those don’t get you sarted up on another smoking habit…
Well, that would be madness!
Then again, I’ve been mad for fucking years.
Congratulations, Frank! After watching my mother struggle for years to quit smoking, and watching my father try and fail even after he was diagnosed with emphysema, I took the easy route: I didn’t start. But I have huge amounts of sympathy for people with a monkey on their back, and huge respect for people who manage to kill the little fucker!
Congratulations Frank! I’m very happy for you.
I’ve been smoke free since January 2, 2005 and I have to say that I no longer miss it. In fact, I feel sorry for the people I see smoking because they still have that monkey on their back.
Any one who’s interesting in the latest research on addictions may find the July 16, 2007 time Magazine article particularly interesting. It’s an eye opener and may give unsympathetic folk like Otto a bit more insight.
Congrats. I also quit very recently (Aug. 20) but never smoked much (less than a pack a week for 20 years). I mainly did it because of pressure from my wife to get insurance at the much cheaper non-smoker rates. I think I need to have quit a year or so before I can get the better rates.
Also, congrats on heading up north. I’m jealous, I hope to eventually make it back home to live. Right now it’s been 22 months since I’ve even been back for a visit.
