Frankenstein's monster -- how formidable?

BTW, the character of Frankenstein (the maker, not the creature) might have been (it’s a controversial theory) based on alchemist Johann Konrad Dippel, a/k/a Frankenstein because he was born in Frankenstein Castle, who claimed (shortly before he died) to have found an elixir of longevity. In Robert Anton Wilson’s The Earth Will Shake, Sigismundo Celine initially encounters his half-brother as a street fortuneteller calling himself “Frankenstein” (later he is known as Cagliostro), but Uncle Pietro explains that Frankenstein died in 1734 – “Or at least his friends took the liberty of burying him then” – and the name is often used by traveling mountebanks exploiting his legend.
