Wait, Fox is mad because Lego “Friends” now include, among others, a character with Down syndrome? What’s interesting about this logic in the article you quoted is that either the law is toothless because all the mother has to say is “I want the abortion for a different reason” or else the law declares “mother knows fetus is Downs” with “that’s only possible reason she could want an abortion.” Sounds about Right. I’d rather the machines be as “woke” as possible, so that, when they inevitably become more powerful than us, they don’t do what humans often do to others they have power over. Besides, this sounds a whole lot like complaining that someone isn’t raising their kid to be a nazi. If they want some nazi AI’s, they can build their own supercomputer and feed it the training data that reflects their values. ---

Good question! Usually, the… vague, yes… rules for inclusion on the list are 1. It’s not policy debate. This rule is “iffy” as some of the things on the list… like 2A… can be considered policy. 2. It’s not a proposal by someone in power to make that proposal (or a candidate). For example, Trump buying Greenland. Stupid, yes, but as President, it was his to propose. (Shades of my James Watt/Beach Boys call) 3. The freakout should be about something completely irrelevant to anyone except very few people. Terry Schiavo. The Mr Potato Head freakout. Big Bird. IOW, culture-war shit. 4. (And this is big) It must be driven by the rw infotainment machine. Without #4, it’s hard to claim it is an actual “freakout”. So to the point, stupid things said by Trump usually doesn’t count. Stupid things said by Tucker Carlson definitely count. If Carlson, et al, pick this up and drive it, then it would definitely count. Hope this helps! ---

This might fit in the schadenfraude thread also. Unfortunately I can’t provide any cite for this because it’s from the most recent John Oliver episode, which I can’t find yet on the internet. The most prominent member of ratfucking agency Project Veritas, James O’Keefe, [has been ‘ousted’ from his roost.](https://gizmodo.com/project-vertas-james-okeefe-alt-right-trump-1850140217) JO showed clips of right wing media having their cereal getting pissed in: Ben Shapiro (pouty): “Project Feritas no longer has, basically, any reason for being.” Candice Owens: “When you tell me they’re gettting rid of James O’Keefe you’re telling me that Project Veritas is over.” And _damn_ if only I coulda gotten a video of Steve Bannon, here, looking at his most affronted, his most put-upon 😢, that he has ever looked - it never made me happier, than it did, right then, to look at that utterly gross-as-fuck visage. Boo-hooing: “It’s, it’s, it’s, un_con_scionable, what went on, here. Unconscionable, for our movement, and the nation at large.
