# Freaks and Geeks on DVD!

I know there are many **Freaks and Geeks** fans in doper-dom, so I thought I’d post a heads up.
Creators **Judd Apatow** and **Paul Feig** have been working on getting the show released on DVD. The production company Dreamworks needs some re-assurance that there’s enough interest to support the expense of production, however.
Apatow and Feig have asked that fans go to the [Freaks and Geeks website](http://www.freaksandgeeks.com/home.shtm), click on the **DVD** link, and put your e-mail address on the list of people who’d like to see the show released. Nearly 16,000 people have signed up so far, but the more the better.

I signed up for that not too long ago. I loved the series, so I hope the DVD plans go through.

I have a few questions:
**How many episodes were aired?**
**Are there any unrealised episodes that would be included on the DVD?**
**Why the hell did they cancel this show???**

I’m pretty sure two seasons’ worth of episodes aired. Why was it cancelled? My theory is that it was simply TOO good, and made every single other show on TV look horrible in comparison. It had to be stopped.
Plus, I think Judd Apatow has some enemies in Hollywood. Harper’s reprinted a hilarious e-mail exchange between him and the creator of the far inferior That 70s Show in which one tells the other to “get Cancer and die.”

I thought only one season of Freaks and Geeks was released. I watched them all when they were in syndication on… FX? I don’t recall what station. I will sign up for the DVD right now, and thanks for the heads up, **Santos**.

There were a total of eighteen episodes. Fifteen aired during it’s original run on NBC. After it was cancelled, Fox Family Channel picked up the re-runs and also aired the three episodes NBC didn’t run. FFC became ABC Family Channel, and they showed a few episodes, but have since taken it off their schedule.
You can also go to [Amazon](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00005JM3D/qid=1047968605/sr=8-5/ref=sr_8_5/102-9023056-3462527?v=glance&s=dvd&n=507846) and put in your e-mail address to be notified when it becomes available. Amazon’ll let the production company know how many people have expressed interest in buying the DVDs.

When we realized that Fox was rerunning the show, we managed to tape almost all of the episodes. We may be missing a few. If the DVD really happens, we might just have to go out and buy a player. 😃

No kidding! I liked that show, too, and I think it’s one of those that Fox must’ve conspired to kill for some reason. Didn’t it start out on Sundays, but then they started moving it around and airing episodes out of order? Then they wondered why the ratings dropped off. Assholes.
Of course, if Apatow pissed off the people responsible for “70s Show”, which was already (unfortunately) well-established, _that_ might have contributed to the evil conspiracy.

I think the reason is one word and two letters: Reality T.V. Gotta make room for more reality crapola.
I like Survivor as much as the next guy - but I can’t wait until this reality fad is over. We’re losing a lot of good TV shows in the process.

Yeah, but look what’s been on Sundays since then (and since the X-Files went away). . . Either reruns of Malcom, The Simpsons, and now \ Oliver Beene (which I give another 2 or 3 weeks, max.). I would think there should be plenty of room, and hence some other motive.
