To tell the truth - as a non-practicing lawyer, I kind of enjoy the chance to discuss the law in a theoretical sense by answering GQ questions. I generally qualify what I say by including the fact that I’m not licensed where they live, and that this doesn’t constitute legal advice, for which they should consult a lawyer licensed in their particular jurisdiction.
But with all that said - I have Lexis, which I talked my company into funding, and which I have used more to answer SDMB questions over the past eight months than for anything work-related! I like doing it, and as long as folks understand that they’re getting a general reaction to the situation, not specific legal advice tailored for them - I think there’s little potential for harm.
I’m not really happy with lawyers right now anyway, but I will take that to the pit. To clarify, that would be the ones in my area.
When I posted about my son getting hit by that bitch I got lots of people letting me know that they were there for me with thoughts and prayers. It was wonderful and it helped me to know that you were all out there.
When people found out that the bitch was going to get away with it the first thing most said was get a lawyer. Great advice, and so I tried.
Nobody will touch the case. She is a wellfare parent and I am not made of money. I never really asked for any legal advice from anyone here because I knew that one we were pretty much screwed and two it wouldn’t be right to impose, and three things vary from state to state.
I know, pretty pointless, but it’s my story none the less.
Bricker,
I’m crushed - all this time I thought you were blessed with a terrific memory, and it’s just LEXIS?? Does Lexis have three minute mystery category that I’ve not run across?
