# Free way to convert videos for iPod?

Does anyone know of a free way to convert non-\*.mov movies to \*.mov? (Isn’t that what iPods need?)

Scroll down a bit for the free version. I use it all the time, it works great.
I thought iPods use a kind of mp4, but I could be wrong. Maybe that’s for watching movies on mobile phones. Anyway, this app does it all pretty much.

[Videora](http://www.download.com/Videora-iPod-Converter/3000-2194_4-10781135.html?hhTest=1) seems to be designed specifically for Ipods. I’ve used it but haven’t played around with the options much yet.

Correct, but it’s an Apple format, and is effectively equivalent to a .mov

I’ve had success with Videora as well but mostly I’ve just used itunes. Right-clicking on a video you’ve imported brings up a menu which includes the option to “convert selection for ipod/iphone”, not sure if it works for all formats but it’s worked well for me.
