Would anyone care to share their experiences with Freedom Mortgage?

They have offered us a lower rate.

There are certain words and phrases which have nothing to do with commerce or money, but end up in company names.

“Freedom” is one of them.

I predict this is a thread that will either get hijacked or die quickly.

I sincerely hope that a mortgage company which tries to wrap itself in the flag gets little business.

I was going to say something along the lines of **usedtobe**. The name alone would make me avoid them. I also don’t shop at…

I have freedom mortgage. I went with them because they had the best rate. They’ve been the same as any other mortgage company, no problems here.

BBB (remember them?) is not in the business of bad-mouthing companies (they pay the BBB for the listing).

Here is BBB’s page on Freedom Mortgage:

[http://www.bbb.org/new-jersey/business-reviews/mortgage-bankers/freedom-mortgage-corporation-in-mount-laurel-nj-80003000/](http://www.bbb.org/new-jersey/business-reviews/mortgage-bankers/freedom-mortgage-corporation-in-mount-laurel-nj-80003000/)

Here’s a quick summary: Note: This says it started as a Sole Proprietorship - a one-man operation. Highly unusual, to put it mildly.

Agreed Order
Date of Action: 3/29/2012

The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.

On 29th of March 2012 the business entered into an Agreed Order with the Kentucky Department of Financial Institutions. The Agreed Order settles allegations that the business was utilizing an unregistered loan originator and unlicensed mortgage broker.

Under terms of the Order, the business agreed to pay the total settlement amount of $2,500 and agreed to continual and full compliance with all statutory requirements.

The Assurance was for settlement purposes only and should not be considered as an admission of guilt or finding of violation of the law. For more details go to http://www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org/EntityDetails.aspx/Artifact/Final%20Order.pdf?q=101253-201132

thank you for the response.

Mostly I guess I am concerned about their customer service and payment processing–two of the more worrisome complaints I have read about them.
