Freeway surface deterioration

I think the 10 and 91 are good examples. Although newer freeways like the 105 and 210 have smooth qualities. I wonder if it is something that builds up over time related to the area’s particular soil quality.

Portions of the 10 freeway in SCal were built in the late 40s. Since the roadway was constructed with a lifespan of 30-40 years, you can understand why its in such crappy shape.

During the 1970s when the infrastructure should have been seriously rehabbed or replaced, budget cutbacks simply delayed the process. There has been less and less money available as the yaers passed, and much of the infrastructure is disintegrating.
