So, what do you put on your french fries?
Besides ketchup and salt? 😉
Me? Those two. Also, when I was in Middle/High School, I used to mix ketchup and mustard together and use that as a sauce. Sometimes I’d even add mayo. Just recently though, I started adding sweet and sour sauce to my fries because when I tried it, it tasted pretty good!

Occasionally mustard, if there’s a good steak-quality one available. Otherwise, just a little salt is all that’s needed.
I think my grandfather would ban me from his house if I dared put ketchup on his homemade fries.

Somethings I’ve seen and my opinion:
Tartar sauce ([oblig Simp qt]_“Let the fools have their Tar Tar sauce”_[/oblig Simp qt])
–2 thumbs up, if it’s good tartar, but there’s a lot of rancid crap out there.
Gravy
–2 thumbs up
Warm ketchup
–1 thumb up
Plain mayo
–2 thumbs down
Sour cream and sweet chili sauce
–SC: 2 thumbs down; --SCS: 2 thumbs up
Mackers soft serve
–One thumb up
–Two thumbs up when you add ketchup–it’s like a strawberry sundae.

A Frosty from Wendy’s. Okay, that doesn’t go _on top_ of the fries, the fries get dipped in.
Also, cheese. Not that scary yellow crap, but real cheese. Monterey Jack, Pepper Jack or Sharp Cheddar shaved (with a vegetable peeler, makes really really thin slices) onto extremely hot, fresh homemade fries is tremendous.
Also, when my husband wants a yummy but bad for him treat, he makes the following, which is really quite good but a bit too _much_ for my tastes.
1. Saute together onion, sliced mushrooms and green pepper in butter
2. Mix into hot mushroom gravy (the kind in the jar is okay)
3. Invite Opal over to share
4. Dump gravy mixture on top of hot fries
5. Add sharp cheddar cheese
6. Eat, and wait for the coronary occlusion.

I have no idea if this is also the english word for it, but here in Denmark it’s very common to eat french fries with “remulade” - it’s a yellow dressing.

For me it’s vinegar and Old Bay Seasoning. Especially if they are great home fries from anywhere on the boardwalk of Ocean City, MD or Rehoboth Beach, DE.

Usually, though, I eat it with ketchup and some pepper…depends on where it’s from. If it’s McD’s fries, I love them as is.
