It kind of caught me off guard at first, but then I remembered that Freud had studied Medicine in Vienna (hence being termed a “Psychiatrist”)

Oh, hell yes. Freud was an enthusiastic proponent (and user) or cocaine, not only for physical ailments, but for psychological problems which he believed to stem from physical problems.
