You mean other than the drunken tailback or his slutty girlfriend?
(Line of the night, btw, was something like “I work at Planned Parenthood, so I’m sure I’ll be seeing you again.”)

I read some good reviews that influenced me to give this another look. I liked the second episode better, probably because there wasn’t so much football.
I’m really starting to sympathize with the coach. Keeping his cool when Garrity and everyone tells him how to do his job is impressive. He seems to be conflicted about some of the things he has to do to energize the team. Last week he has everybody hit Riggins, and this week he bares his soul to Saracen. Or maybe he wasn’t conflicted – maybe he knew what would work with Riggins wouldn’t work with Saracen.
I liked how he cancelled practice the day he gave the team the news about Street being paralyzed. I liked that Riggins didn’t immediately rush to the hospital to see Street after Lila talked to him.
This past episode really pissed me off. They show clips making it look like the young quarterback was the only one doing his job, then the next week everybody is talking about how they need a new quarterback. I wish they had shown us the same game that the town watched.
I like how he siad he wasn’t going to go along with illegally recruiting a ringer and then went along with it anyway. Some integrity.
Riggins is starting to become a tiresome character, not to mention a shitty friend. There’s a point where a sullen drunk stops being intriguing or “complex” and just starts being an asshole.
Still a good show, though, and we’re starting to see some of the hypocrisy underneath all the town’s grandstanding religiosity.
I’m still hoping that Riggins’ sober turn won’t be a cliche.
Anybody know what constitutes legal or illegal recruiting in HS? Can a Katrina refugee basically go whereever he wants? Is the only requirement that his family establish residency in the school’s jurisdiction?
